You've found a peaceful shady spot to rest, relax, and truly enjoy your trip to the beautiful Northeast Georgia mountains. With our beautiful flower gardens and spacious accommodations, Clarkesville Cottage is a perfect "home base" for a weekend getaway to the hiking trails, wineries, fishing, golf and other attractions NEGA has to offer. Pool is closed until spring. For either a quick trip or an extended stay, you'll find all the comforts of home including full kitchen, TV and WiFi. Mama Judy added her spacious Clarkesville Cottage to our property a few years ago. She calls it her "doll house" because she got to "play" and decorate it fully to her tastes. Inside you'll find her interesting mix of styles in furnishings and knick knacks chosen simply because they made her happy and she thought you would love them too. The massive, super-comfy, Clarkesville Cottage king-size bed must be slept in to be believed. You'll also find all the other comforts of home with two full bathrooms, washer/dryer, full-size refrigerator/freezer, stove top and oven, microwave and coffee maker. Wi-Fi is blasting throughout the space. You'll also have a Roku-connected TV with all your local and cable channels as well as a full cable sports package and Disney Plus. When you're not out exploring all the amazing activities that NEGA has to offer, relax on our back deck overlooking Mama Judy's garden or just grab a book and just enjoy the shade of the massive chestnut trees, dogwoods and magnolias that surround the property. The whole of Clarkesville Cottage and gardens are all yours to enjoy throughout your stay. I live in a nearby house on the property and will be available at all hours to help with whatever technical needs may arise during your stay. If you want privacy, you've got it. Once you check in, you won't even know we're here unless you need something. If you're looking for more, Mama Judy has gobs of local history knowledge and loves to share with anyone who will listen. (Ask her about growing up as a moonshiner's daughter!) She'll talk your ear off if you let her or she's just as happy to leave you in peace during your stay. We're just 15 miles from the Alpine Village of Helen, the hiking trails of Tallulah Gorge, and the burgeoning NEGA wine country. You are within walking distance of historic downtown Clarkesville which has much to offer the adventurous traveler. For such a small town, our restaurant scene is nothing short of amazing. Enjoy five-star farm-to-table cuisine at Harvest Habersham or slip into Midtown Grill for the best burger in the state (voted by me!). Make time to check out The Copper Pot for some craft beer and Pizza. We've also got delicious BBQ and catfish literally across the street from Clarkesville Cottage at Hawg Wild! Another unexpected perk of our location is the Old Clarkesville Mill. This renovated textile mill is now home to dining, live music, shopping and even a bowling alley. The best part? All that cool stuff is just a short walk from Clarkesville Cottage (you can literally see it from the pool area and sometimes hear the live music when you're out on the back porch.) The Clarkesville Greenway trail system is also right behind the cottage and will lead you directly to the Soque River. It's an easy walk with some lovely views. Clarkesville Cottage includes paved parking right in front. There's no public transport in Clarkesville, but you can order Uber and Lyft (Lyft seems to be cheaper and quicker) as well as a couple of local cab companies that service the area. Absolutely no animals inside the cottage. I use the cottage myself on a regular basis and suffer from severe allergies. No children allowed on site. The cottage is not safe for children. We have two outside cats that roam freely. There is a small but active working kennel on the property so you might hear the puppies a couple of times a day during feedings.
