The space The hostel introduces travellers to plenty of offbeat hikes, newfound adventures, and a culturally rich district that has a rather interesting lifestyle given its weather, history, and location. Situated at only 40 km from Manali and now made accessible by the Atal Tunnel, Sissu is a riverside hamlet perched upon a highland, in a landscape that serves as a perfect introduction to Lahaul. With every season, this village changes its colours and moods—abundantly snowy winters make way for blooming springs, which pass the ball to incredibly gorgeous autumns. Furthermore, a lake, a waterfall, multiple glacier hikes, and spectacular mountain views make this region special. And for those of you who like to explore places at length, there is a collection of brilliant, underrated, and culturally rich places you’d like to journey through in Lahaul. But for that, you must first make it to the magical village of Sissu. Other things to note During Winters: During the winter months, Sissu may not be accessible via local transport or private non-4x4 vehicle under extreme snow conditions. In such weather, we do not recommend travellers drive down to the hostel and strongly recommend that they hire a 4x4 vehicle either from Manali or by contacting the property prior to their arrival. Moreover, please keep your booking confirmation at Zostel Sissu handy while making the journey from Manali to Sissu. Important note for winter months and extreme weather conditions: - Due to the extreme cold in the region, our property provides complimentary heaters. Please contact the reception for availability. - Running water will be limited because of the weather. However, a water drum will be provided. - An electric rod for water heating will be provided. - Bonfire is available on request and will be provided on a chargeable basis.
