Perfectly situated for tourists and visitors alike, we are just 1.5 miles from the Capitol and within walking distance to Union Market, the Shaw and Bloomingdale neighborhoods, and several new parks. Whether you're here for work or a family vacation, our space offers a comfortable base. Please note that the amenities are more akin to a hotel than a full home-away-from-home. The space Layout: Front Room: Enter through the front room, featuring a coat closet, day bed with an extra trundle bed beneath, TV, reading chair, and coffee table. Hallway: Includes a desk for work or planning your day. Master Bedroom: Queen bed with a new memory foam mattress. Bathroom: Accessible through the master bedroom, with a shower. We ensure all guests are aware of this layout before booking. Kitchenette: Described below. Kitchenette: Appliances include microwave, mini-fridge with freezer, coffee maker, toaster oven, and water kettle. We provide high-quality teas, coffee, and basic condiments. There’s also a coffee grinder for those who prefer to bring their own beans. Note: No hot plate is available. Sound Given the home's 1900 construction, soundproofing between floors is imperfect. We strive to be respectful during your stay, but you may occasionally hear us or our friendly labradoodle, Cricket. Climate Unit is air conditioned. A mini-split system in the living room provides both cooling and heating, and a portable AC unit is available in the master bedroom. Note: The mini-split was installed in March 2023, so it may not be visible in listing photos or mentioned in earlier reviews. Media A 40" Roku TV is available, but you’ll need to log in with your own accounts for Netflix, Hulu, Amazon, etc. Enjoy complimentary access to the Criterion Collection. We also provide books, games, and puzzles for your enjoyment. Getting Around Metro: A 15-minute walk to the NoMa station. National Mall: 1.5 miles away (about a 42-minute walk). Buses: The 80 and P6 buses, which stop near the Capitol, are just a 2-minute walk away. Bike Share: There’s a docking station at the end of the block, perfect for exploring the city. Parking On-Street Parking: There is no dedicated parking space, but on-street parking is generally not difficult to find in the area. Visitor Parking Permit: To park on the street, you'll need a visitor parking permit. Please coordinate with us in advance to arrange for the permit, and we'll have it ready for you at check-in. Additional Information No Pets: We kindly ask that you leave your furry friends at home, though service animals are allowed with advance notice. Guest access This is the English basement unit of our house. Your private entrance is via the lower entrance at the front of the house, and will have access to the entire basement except the utility room, one of the closets, and a small portion of the back which we use for storage, and is marked by the three-panel screen. Other things to note Because the utility room and circuit breaker are located in the basement, we may need to enter in the case of an emergency. We will give advance notice to the extent possible. Also, regarding pets, please note that we are a no pets house, and per Airbnb and DC policies, emotional support animals are not covered. However, if you have a service animal please let us know in advance and we will be happy to make any accommodations for your service animal to make your trip as pleasant as it can be.
