Description
This one of a kind authentic cob and timber frame home is nestled in the heart of wine country on a spectacular heritage organic orchard. This house features a full kitchen, a ladder access loft bedroom giving you spanning views of the valley, a woodstove, patio, half bath with bathtub and sink, an outhouse toilet, and so many cute details it's impossible to list them all! Surrounded by ancient apple trees. This home is a unique 450sqft experience that you won't forget. The space First off, we're all a bit quirky and eccentric here! Vialo Orchard is one of the first certified organic farms in Canada, and the original 80 year old trees still stand! The farm is still fully functional and bustling. Check this link for a beautiful write up of the experience :) https://bestever.guide/cob-house-cawston-bc/ Fresh organic fruit and veggies are always available and every booking will receive a farm treat as a courtesy. We are 420 friendly, pet friendly, and all around gregarious people. We sometimes have farm workers living on the farm. They are always lovely people, some of my favourite in the world. They have their own camping accomodations. Guests need to be aware that the farm is sometimes a noisy, busy place, with machinery/Irrigation running, people working, music playing, etc. But typically it is quite peaceful here. The Similkameen River is just a 5 min drive, lots of swimming to be done there! Kayaking and tubing are popular. There are kayaks on site that can be used. Only 45 min to Skaha Park, if you're into sport climbing. Some of the best in the world. There are also a few bolted climbs directly across the street from the farm. Surrounded by wineries and cideries in every direction, and only 30 min to Penticton and Osoyoos. Please don't hesitate to ask for recommendations. Guest access 5 acres with almost nothing to hold you back. A veggie garden beside the cob house can be your inspiration for dinner, full of fresh herbs and whatever else is seasonally ready. There is a workshop that I'm often puttering in, and a shared outside-ish shower that you are more than welcome to use with a coin operated washing machine. And last but not least, hammocks floating in the endless grass in the shade of the apple trees. Other things to note Cob is a mixture of clay, sand, and straw. In other words, dirt. I do my absolute best to clean every square inch of the house from top to bottom, but the very nature of the home is that it is not sterile. Please try to be patient if you see a crumble of dirt because sometimes the house does things after I've cleaned it :) Additionally, the walls are sealed with lime, as it traditional for a lot of natural buildings. Rubbing up against the walls of the house can leave white smudges on your clothing. It is safe, and will wash out. I promise. Please be aware that farms can be dangerous places. Caution should be taken at all time. Pets need to be within eyesight at all times, or leashed. If you smoke, outside only and please always use the ashtrays provided. Additional guests can be accommodated for a small camping fee, if they bring their own camping equipment and you wish to share the home. Please message me.
