The A. C. Thomas House is a magnificent mansion located in the heart of charming New Harmony, Indiana. Ideal for special occasions: family reunions, retreats, weddings, garden parties, birthday's, high tea & other celebrations & events. There are two parlors & two dining rooms on the first floor, 5 Victorian rooms on the 2nd floor & the modern Loft & Gallery Suites. No parties or unauthorised additional guests are allowed. The house has four stories covering 6500 square feet with a dramatic and spacious portico, and three spacious stories with unique accommodations for up to 18 persons. There are five Victorian bedrooms on the second floor. The largest is the Taft Room named for the president who was a guest of A,C. Thomas and stayed in this room. The second floor rooms are named for modern British Royals: Princess Diana; Prince William; Duchess Kate, and Prince Charles. The spectacular Loft Suite with it's dramatic high ceiling is on the on the 3rd floor. The Gallery Suite, an apartment with a separate entrance occupied the lower level. An elevator provides luggage service to all floors and provides access to the property from the street level. No parties or additional unauthorised guests allowed. Guests who rent the entire house have access to all guest rooms, common areas, the kitchen, laundry room and garden. There is one off- the-street parking space available and ample, safe parking on the street. We greet all of our guests in person. If management is not available, we have a designated local manager who will see you in, give you a tour and be available on-call to answer questions or help in any way needed. We will coordinate with you to provide breakfast and we are always just a phone call or a text away! Just let us know what you need. New Harmony is a charming historic town of approximately 900 people. It is a diverse haven for creatives of all types including artists, writers, musicians, and those who support and appreciate the arts and culture. The downtown area is just one block away and is composed of 20 square blocks of Victorian buildings housing a shopping mecca (Mews Gallery) antique shoppes, art galleries, restaurants, quaint cafe's, a deli, a brewery, a tavern, wine shoppe, pharmacy, soap shoppe and more. There are several museums, historic sites, community parks, churches of several denominations including the iconic non-denominational Roofless Church. There are two labyrinths and many parks. Since there is currently no grocery store, the town has a convenience store only that serves decent pizza and a few other hot items. Guests should consider stocking up on groceries in nearby Evansville or Mt. Vernon. The nearest airports are Evansville, Louisville, KY; and St. Louis. In town, New Harmony residents and visitors primarily walk or use golf carts and bicycles to get around. Bicycles and golf carts can be rented from the beautiful Antheum Visitors Center just a few blocks away from the A.C. Thomas House. Golf carts can be arranged by request. Local occupancy taxes and breakfast is included in the tariff. Lunch can be arranged for an additional fee. The kitchen provides a full compliment of cookware, flatware, utensils, platters and other serving items. We provide and abundant spice rack, olive oil and soy sauce for your convenience. There are ample coffee cups, wine glasses and other serving items available for you and your guests. No parties or additional guests are allowed.
