Description
Welcome to Yosemite's most unique, popular and adventurous AirBnB listing. We (CampCrate) will obtain your wilderness permits for a 3-day backpacking trip amidst Yosemite's vast and untouched wilderness. Before your arrival, we will ship your backpacking gear to our partner stores en-route to the park for pick up. After your trip, use the included, pre-paid shipping label and send it back. Please continue reading and look at all the photographs. The space On the first day you will drive into Yosemite Valley. Arrive early to hike extra trails. At night, you'll camp in Yosemite Valley near Happy Isles at a primitive campground in a pine forest setting. The campsites will be located 5-10 minutes walk from where you are permitted to park your vehicle (parking included). On the second day, relax in the morning or hike optional trails. After driving to the start of McGurk Meadow, you'll hike out 4.32 miles to camp at Dewey Pt to camp for the night. There is also an optional 2.39 mile hike to Stanford Point from camp. Sleep in the remote wilderness at Dewey Pt. On the third day, you'll wake up and hike back 4.32 miles to your car. You can either drive to the Mariposa Grove of Giant Sequoias from there or return to Yosemite Valley where you'll camp again for the night. On day four, you are free to schedule your day how you'd like. We recommend taking a trip up the Mist Trail to Nevada Falls if your legs have any energy left in them. Others may need to depart early for flights. Four backpacking meals will be included with your order. We provide two fruit oatmeal breakfasts from Mountain House and two dehydrated meals from Peak Refuel (Beef Pasta Marinara, Sweet Pork & Rice, or Chicken Alfredo Pasta). Lunches, snacks, and off-trail meals are not included. If you'd like to purchase extra meals, please let us know. Guest access It is important to note that this listing requires you to move locations each night. Each day, you will be packing up your camp in your backpack, then moving to your next location. Provided in your crate is a pre-paid return shipping label. Simply package all your gear back in it’s box or container and place the shipping label on the outside. You may return the gear to any UPS Store or Staples location. Continue Reading for FAQ's . . . Q – Where do I pick up the gear? A – The shipping address will be determined by your direction of travel to the park. We will e-mail you the address of the location to pick up your gear. This address is conveniently selected on your way to the park. We often partner with local gear shops when possible so that you only need to make one stop for your camp stove fuel and additional supplies. Q – How do I return the gear? A – Provided in your crate is a pre-paid return shipping label. Simply package all your gear back in it’s box or container and place the shipping label on the outside. You may return the gear to any UPS Store or Staples location. Many businesses will also accept UPS packages if you ask at the front desk/cashier. Please note, you are responsible for your equipment until UPS scans the package in. If you leave the UPS package at your hotel and they lose it, you will be held accountable. UPS Stores and Staples locations will scan your package in immediately and you will no longer be liable. Q – What equipment is included with my CampCrate? A – Each customer will receive their own personal backpack, sleeping bag, sleeping pad, and headlamp. A tent, water filter, and camping stove will also be provided, but these are shared items. For example, a customer taking this trip solo will receive one of each item. A crate for two customers will include two of each personal items and one of each shared item. If you would like additional equipment or special requests for your trip, please e-mail us. Q – What should I pack? A – We will e-mail or link you to CampCrate’s preparation and packing list. This will include detailed packing information. Q – Does this include parking? A – Yes! We provide directions and instructions for where to park your car during your trip. Q – Will I get eaten by a bear? A – In Yosemite’s written history, there has never been a fatal bear attack. It is incredibly unlikely to see a bear. If you do see a bear, they will likely try to avoid you. Proper wildlife etiquette and safety will be explained in your confirmation packet. Statistically though, your chances are greater at winning the lottery than getting approached by an aggressive black bear. Q – What other hikes can we do in the park? A – After your trip is confirmed, we will include our list of recommended hikes in the confirmation packet. We will also include a list of things to see as you enter the park, based upon your travel direction.
