Description
THE SPACE: STAY BIRD B&B Unique travel made EASY! The 1989 Blue Bird TC2000 Bus is your “skoolie” home away from home! This 72 passenger school bus underwent a 2018 makeover and was retro-fitted for the ultimate glamping experience! Upon arriving, guests will see the Stay Bird stationed in the Splendor Oaks Grove, majestically framed by two mimosa trees. Sleeping and dining for four in this 240 square foot open concept creates a natural environment for connection! The space BUS DETAILS: An outdoor retreat sits just outside her doors, featuring Adirondack chairs, fire pit, and navy hammock to pair with her exterior! As you enter, the Americana vibe is consistent throughout with red accents complimenting the custom upholstery. The racing stripe driver’s seat provides the perfect spot to sit and remove your shoes. The rear living room converts into an oversized king, and both the futon sofa and wheel-well lounge benches slide out into full-size sleepers. A breakfast bar and classic diner-style booth provide ample seating for mealtime as well as boardgames, coloring books, and puzzles. These items can be found inside the vintage locker deemed the bus stop supply pantry. For your convenience an apartment size fridge, microwave, one-eye burner and camping recipe books are available in the bus’ “kitchen”. Also stored here, in wicker baskets, are striped textile hammock and hammock chair accessories should a rainy day keep you inside; simply clip them throughout the eyebolts in the ceiling and enjoy the panoramic views through the windows which are mirror tinted for daytime privacy. At the end of the day, draw the room-darkening curtains for privacy after dark and sleeping systems convert in a matter of seconds. Fresh linens and hand-stitched kantha quilts are provided as well as one towel and washcloth per guest. This is a year-round destination with heating and air-conditioning with temperatures easily maintaining in the 60-70s. All guests have access to the guest side of the grounds and amenities lounge, including a full restroom located a 2 minute walk from the Stay Bird Bus. Potential guests should note there are other one-of-a-kind AirBnb rentals in close proximity and seeing other property guests, as well as host family, is more likely than not. Please sure to read the following property information to gain a clear picture of our eco-farm homestead vision, unique amenities, communal environment and recreational activities in our vicinity, then follow up by seeking us out on social media platforms for daily updates. LAST MINUTE TRAVEL & COVID-19 SAFETY: If you book on the day of your arrival after 2pm, there will be a 2 hours added to your check in time. Example: 2pm booking will be checked in at 4pm; 3pm at 5pm, 4pm at 6pm, and so on. We are committed to a higher standard of cleaning to protect our guests and our family. All guests will be expected to place all sheets, pillowcases, blankets, and towels in a hamper prior to check-out. THE PROPERTY: Why guest travel from around the world to stay at Splendor Oaks? Our guests will tell you it's because somehow in the middle of the South’s suburbs a collaboration of passions has transformed an ordinary estate into a slice of heaven on earth! Nestled half way between the base of the Blue Ridge Mountains and Metro-Atlanta, the Cagle Family has taken a 35-year-old ranch and it’s surrounding acres from a fixer-upper find to a DIY dreamland! A woodsy wonderland filled with one-of-a-kind dwellings and an organic eco-farm are precisely what the modern person needs to relax, reconnect and redefine their happy place! The beautiful surroundings will provide endless wonder and inspiration as the spaces cater to both an introvert’s sleepy solitude (inside bus) as well as communal gathering spaces for extroverts who crave new connections (we have multiple listings so it is likely you will meet a fellow traveler on the grounds). While promoting eco-friendly practices and holistic healing, the environment is set up so that old-fashion traditions, such as cast-iron cooking and southern hospitality will bless the heart and heal the soul. All the spaces have been creatively designed and custom built with love by your hosts, Kurtis & Dayana. When purchasing the property in 2016, the long-term vision was to eventually become a private events facility when the kids had left the nest. For 7 years Dayana was one of Atlanta’s premier wedding photographers and owning the perfect unique venue has always been a life-long goal. After many seasons of photography & travel adventures it was time to hang up the camera and pick up a hammer and a paint brush! Slowly the main house was restored and the renovation odds and ends shaped themselves into a whimsical treehouse! With Eden Treehouse catching everyone’s attention, a larger dream was born to expand housing suitable for a small bridal party! What exactly do you call a place that is a farm, a gathering space, a homestead, and a “hotel” for travelers seeking a unique stay? Splendor Oaks! Having successfully added the school bus conversion to the mix we look forward to the new vision of adding in different “tiny-living” formats for guests to experience the full spectrum of minimalistic options. Coming soon: Tiny House B&B, Yurt B&B, Container Home B&B, and more nature-inspired treehouses! An excellent glamping environment for rest, relaxation, reconnection, and romance! Hit the unwind button and come see for yourself; the faster you get here, the sooner you can change your pace to calm and carefree! Guest access SETTING & GUEST AMENITIES: Despite being located off of a main road in suburbia with varying road noise depending on the time of day, acres of relaxation “sitting spots” and the tranquility of trail walks underneath the canopy of beautiful white and red oaks, as well as a forest hardwood and pine trees will ground any restless spirit. Trail friendly, closed-toe shoes are HIGHLY recommended for our unlevel terrain, as well as rain boots if the weather forecast calls for showers. Songbirds sing and soar amongst white-tailed deer that roam free and drink at our boundary creek that flows into Lake Allatoona which is only a 1-minute car-ride to Little River Marina, where the hit Netflix series Ozark is actively filmed. -For those seeing a lake adventure, we offer kayak rental as well as chartered boat outings. -The lower level of the main house has a guest lounge with various amenities. Prior to your stay, please note the following and plan accordingly: -The kitchenette offers a microwave, coffee station, toaster, and a mini fridge, but NO SINK or running water. Please label your food and only use what belongs to you. The outdoor lounge area has a flat top propane griddle, a RecTec pellet smoker, 2-eye burner. -The washroom features a vintage cast-iron clawfoot tub and copper penny floor. This is the only restroom available to all guests. Please respect your fellow guests and keep your showers eco-friendly and efficient (under 10 mins)! For the guests looking to embrace the benefits of cold-therapy, a cedar outdoor shower is located just outside the guest lounge and is opened May through October. -The Traveler B&B room is located inside the main house, accessible only through the lounge. In order to honor this guest’s stay, the billiards, games, TV and kitchenette amenities will be closed from 10pm-6am. Restroom will remain available throughout the night but please enter in a quiet and respectful manner. EATS: Bring a cooler with your own food for the grill station and should you forget something, the grocery store is one mile down the road. If you would rather order in your meals, we have a list of delivery dining options as well as local favorites that are just a 15 minute Uber ride to lively Downtown Woodstock or quaint Downtown Canton. “JD’s at the Lake” is also open seasonally at Netflix original series "Ozark" film site. Other things to note - Cooking on property: A propane flat top griddle for hibachi style cooking is provided as well at the tent, however propane is not. The propane canisters are available for purchase on the front porch for $5 so you do not need to venture off-site to buy one. The Rec-tec pellet smoker in the outdoor communal area is complimentary. It functions like a grill but is electric, so you just push the button ON and set your ideal cook temp. A large ranch fire pit is also in the communal area if you would like to bring charcoal to cook over an open flame. If cooking is not your thing, there are plenty of restaurants around that deliver here. -Due to our mission to Save the Bees, we are unable to spray any kind of pesticide or chemical based repellent. Planters with Citronella are located just outside each dwelling as well as throughout the property. Simply tear off a leaf and rub directly on skin. Homemade natural repellent is also available upon request. -We are an eco-farm with animals, if you suffer from any animal allergies or have a fear of dogs, please do not book with us as you will likely be greeted with puppy love. -Please note our listing is intentionally very thorough and clear as to the availability and extent of our amenities. We adhere to the Strict AirBnb No Refund Policy, should you arrive and change your mind for any reason.
