The Bunker - personal, private with a grand view.
The twin beds can be used separately or combined as a king. The. Tempur-pedic sofa bed in the living room is full size, comfortable for one or two people. Stunning views—grand but intimate—with miles of hiking/biking/riding trails out our back gate into Canyons of the Ancients National Monument. Temperate high desert climate, vineyards, orchards and irrigated farmland set among red rock hoodoos in McElmo Canyon. Close to SE Utah (12 miles), Four Corners (55 miles), Cortez (15 miles), Durango (60 miles), Telluride (90 miles), with striking expanses of Ute Mountain Ute and Navajo Nation reservation lands nearby. Heart of the Four Corners area. The Bunker occupies the lower level of the house, with its own parking, patio, grill and entrance. It is 850 SF, a snug apartment which is quiet and sheltered and a refuge during these confusing times. I am available via text, phone call or personal contact at any time during your stay at the Bunker. McElmo Canyon is a treasure, featuring red rock hoodoos, tough native trees shrubs and flowers, and ancient sites within sight of 14,000 ft peaks. A breadbasket for centuries, you will pass wineries (visit!), orchards and truck gardens along the creek as it wanders during the 25-mile drive to the Utah line. We are about 1/2 hour from Cortez, 45 minutes from Hovenweep NM and Mesa Verde NP, and 1-1/4 hour from Bluff, UT. Four Corners Monument is about an hour's drive. Winter is lovely and very accessible in Southwest Colorado canyon country, one of the best times to explore Canyons of the Ancients National Monument. Spring and Fall are temperate and colorful, profuse flowers in the former and spectacular golden Fremont Cottonwoods in the latter. Summer hikes are most comfortable in the early morning or late afternoon/evening.
