Main attractions in the area are: The river Nidd, just a minute from the cottage, runs through the dale and offers delightful strolls along its banks, by fields and meadows, in either direction. In addition to walking and hiking there is also the possibility to go trekking with llamas at a llama farm. You should also go and see Hackforth; Fountains Abbey; Harrogate for Betty's tea shop, shops, antique markets & restaurants; Ripon with its Cathedral, Alice in Wonderland connections, 13C origins; Ripon Market Square with Wakeman (town crier - check online for times), ancient streets and friendly pubs. Grassington, Skipton, Burnsall, Brimham Rocks, Appletreewick are also often included in a day out (especially in summer- to swim in the river, or even cliff jumping if you're up for it). More active outings could include How Stean Gorge or Stump Cross caverns. Walkers and cyclists would do well to check web sites for Nidderdale AONB and Way of the Roses. Of course there are also lots of places / pubs to go to in Pateley Bridge: The Crown pub for sunday dinner, or award winning pies and meat from the butchers, as well as the world's oldest sweet shop or cocoa joe's great hot chocolate and coffee (if you say you're staying at the cottage, you get a discount :) ) There is free parking right in front of the door, but sometimes all parking spots are taken, in which case you would have to park a little bit further up. Also, the apartment was only finished in May so you will be one of our first guests if you book now :) Tea and coffee will be provided, as well as all necessities. Our aim is to make your stay as nice as possible. For check in there is a key safe for which we will send you the code, if you need to check in early, just tell me and we will figure something out.
