Cottage in Northam

Welcome to Northam Nook, my beautiful cottage set in the centre of the coastal village of Northam. A mile from Westward Ho! with sandy beach. Close to the quaint fishing village of Appledore, with it’s bustling quayside and ferry across to Instow. A 10 minute walk to the coast path. The cottage is ideal for couples, families and friends any time of the year. Northam with it’s shops, fish & chips, Chinese take away, pubs and restaurants, is a great base to explore the wonderful North Devon Coast. The space The cottage nestles between two others, it’s back off the road and private. As you enter the cottage into the entrance hall, the stairs are in front of you. There is a cosy separate lounge on your left with comfy seating, an electric wood burning effect fire and smart TV. Back through the hallway, the dining room has a table and chairs and ample room to enjoy a homemade meal or order a take away. The kitchen follows on and is well equipped with an electric oven and hob, microwave and fridge with small freezer compartment. A few steps lead up to a downstairs shower room with a shower cubicle, a toilet and a sink. This is also a utility room with a washing machine, iron and iron board. A door from the rear hallway also leads out to the back garden. Heading up the stairs you will find the two bedrooms: a twin with zip and link beds which can be made into a super king on request and a spacious double room with an ensuite bathroom with shower over bath, sink and toilet. The en-suite is the main bathroom upstairs. Stepping outside there is a pretty private and enclosed rear garden with a table and 4 chairs on the sunny patio. It’s lovely to sit here and listen to the birdsong. A couple of steps lead up to a small narrow patch of lawn with established shrubs and trees on either side. This area is ideal for dogs as it’s real grass and they like to lie under the trees in the shade. There is pedestrian side access via the side gate and this is ideal for those with bikes or surfboards and an outside tap and hose to wash off wetsuits or sandy/muddy paws. There is no allocated parking with the cottage. There is a car park in the library, opposite the cottage. There are no parking restrictions. It is on a first come first served basis. There is on street parking nearby. There is also a large car park, behind the church, called Bone Hill. It is free from 6pm until 8am every day, after 1pm on Saturday and all day Sunday. After 8am Monday to Saturday it is £1.00 for 5 hours or £2.00 all day. Once you have parked the car you can cut through the churchyard, on foot , to get back to the cottage. It comes out near the bungalows in Glebefields, opposite the cottage. The cottage is a 5 minute drive or 20 to 30 minute walk to Northam Burrows Country Park, Westward Ho! and Appledore. There is a regular bus service connecting Northam to Westward Ho! Appledore, Instow, Bideford and North Devon. Instow, Bucks Millls, Clovelly and Hartland are a short drive away. The Big Sheep and Milky Way are also close by. You can walk or cycle along the Tarka Trail or take the coast path along the riverbank to the ‘Little White Town’ of Bideford to the South or the village of Appledore to the North. Guest access You will have the entire cottage to yourselves. Other things to note The cottage has one en-suite bathroom, upstairs in the double bedroom. This is the only bathroom upstairs. There is also a downstairs shower room with shower cubicle, sink, toilet and washing machine. Arrival 4pm onwards Departure by 10am Super king bed available on request. Internet access Towels included 2 dogs welcome, I may consider more on request.
