Stay at the cabin, read, hike the mountains or Pisgah Creek, or head off to explore the surroundings: The place is magically beautiful in spring and fall and quite a wonder in summer as well. It's a great place from which to explore the Smokies; a haven for writing, reading, painting, and all outdoor sports. This land was purchased by our grandfather, Jacob Raphaelson, in the 1940s. He had the cabin built and it has stayed in the family -- going to his two daughters, Virginia and Selma, and then to five siblings, children of Virginia and Ben. Within 15-20 minutes from your cabin you will find: • Blue Ridge Parkway. Cradle of Forestry Nature Center. • Waynesville: art galleries, restaurants, antique stores, theater • Springdale Golf Club • Music Festivals (Brevard, Waynesville) • Shining Rock Wilderness: hiking, swimming, sliding Within 45 minutes: • Biltmore House • Grove Park Spa • Asheville, with its art galleries, book stores, fine restaurants, mountain charm • Cherokee Indian Reservation and Museum • Cataloochee Ski Area Guest access Guests will have the full 3 b.r. cabin plus a well-equipped kitchen. Linens are provided. Beds (two queen, one full, one youth) are all made up for arrival; upon departing, linens should be washed and dried (they can be left in the dryer or folded on top). Charcoal grill is provided: bring charcoal and liter fluid, as needed. Fireplace in living room: bring your own firewood please. Verizon phone works. Limited internet. No t.v. Plank across creek and back deck near creek provide ideal places for out-of-door cooking and for meals. Other things to note Linens and full kitchen equipment are provided. There are a few fishing poles and two tires for traveling down the rapids of Pigeon River on Route 276. The IKEA kitchen is fully equipped. There is an outdoor charcoal grill for use on either deck. On main floor: one b.r. with queen sized bed, one with full, bathroom In renovated (and charming) attic: one big room, queen-sized bed, half bathroom (plus one youth bed and one army cot)
