Spacious remote cabin up in the Sangre de Cristo mountains in Cuchara village to explore nature and relax. San Isabel National Forest is at the 'back yard', Dike trail is just 0.2 miles away, Spring Creek trail 1.5 miles, Bear lake 9 miles, Monument lake 20 minutes, Cuchara Mountain Park is 5 minute drive away. Artistic La Veta is 11 miles north. Bear lake and monument lakes have camping area for a day camping and/or multiple day camping. The space There are 3 levels in the cabin - main entrance door off the metal stairs leading to open living room/kitchen/dining area/guest bathroom and wood burning stove. Back door leads to outside deck with 2 grills (gas and charcoal, table with chairs that can be used for eating outside, coffee table with chairs and outdoor fire place (not to be used during windy and/or dry season - watch for fire bans). Upstairs bedroom has 2 king size beds, couch, TV, arm chair and full bathroom. 2 doors leading to two balconies on opposite sides. Lower level has 2 bedrooms (queen bed in one and two twin beds in another room). There is also separate sink and full bathroom. Utility corner has washer and drier and there is door to outside back porch. Guest access Full access inside the cabin the except for locked closets (one upstairs and one downstairs) that have owner's personal stuff, etc. Freezer on the main lavels has owner's food but you are welcome to put in yours too. Other things to note Pets are allowed, 1-2 max, for additional fee of $100, pet hair and potential scratch/chewing damage is common. Please bag dog poop if you walk them near the cabin like back porch and up on the parking area - picking dog's poop is not my favorate occupation and I had to do it unfortunately. No smoking inside and if you smoke outside - please do not throw sigarrette buts around - bag them and dispose of properly. Please no 'free tossed' trash (cups, cans, etc) in the trash can outside - bears and other animals get into trash and scatter it all over the slope. There is a large trash bin downstairs for temporary storage of trash until either trash pick up day (one day per week on Friday mornings 7:50-9:30 a.m.) or if checkout happens outside of trash pickup day on Friday - leave it there and cleaning lady will haul it away. When ready to leave, please make sure all windows and doors are locked - so that animals would not get in. Please turn off heaters if they were on, lights and set thermostat to 55.
