There's really no place quite like this. The kitchen is renovated with brand new stainless steel appliances & microwave, quartz counter tops, breakfast bar seating, double farmhouse sink, & toaster oven. Kitchen comes fully stocked with plates, bowls, glassware, cutlery, and utensils. As well as a full cookware set, cast iron skillets, chef's utensils, serving bowls, and wine glasses. Fresh roasted coffee and tea is provided gratis. Luxuriate in the revamped bathroom with a lake inspired mural by local artist Lindsey Naylor, claw foot cast iron soaking tub, and new vanity. Shampoo & conditioner, body wash, bath salts, lotion, cotton swabs, q-tips, and Kleenex. The sleeping loft enjoys a whimsical half moon window with awesome views of the surrounding Huron Mtns. A new queen sized bed sleeps two with fresh cotton sheets and linen duvet. Extra blankets and pillows are provided. The open living area is stocked with books, board games, bluetooth radio, and magazines for guests to enjoy. The luxury leather couch and antique chairs make relaxing a comfortable breeze. The room is wrapped in windows for an unrestricted view of the green forest gardens. Enjoy a gorgeous 1,000 sq ft private flagstone patio with outdoor dining and living area. Outdoor grill, bonfire pit with benches, grassy recreation area, and forested trails are all yours to use. You may see a gardener tending to flowers and berries or the homestead pup, Shadow, keeping animals away. Our two hunting cats, Remy and Rue are sure to be present. The entrance to the cabin is located on the west side of the building with an attached mudroom for all of your gear or travel items. Parking is available for multiple cars north of the cabin. This cabin is powered by the sun. Being solar powered, integrate smart energy strategies such as: - It is best to charge cellphones and other devices during daylight hours. Unplug chargers when charging is complete. - Don’t leave lights or electronics on when they’re not in use. - Don’t waste water, the water pump is the largest electric load to the system. Ways you can help us minimize water consumption... - Only take what you need. - Don’t leave the faucet running when you’re brushing your teeth or washing dishes. - Lift the handle up on the toilet for an eco- flush. You are responsible for understanding the unique nature of this off-grid hidden cabin retreat. We can be difficult to find if you do not read your check-in directions correctly. Your directions come complete with photos and mileage, please utilize them and ditch online maps (it does not bring you to the correct location). Guest access In addition to the log cabin you may enjoy the beautiful flagstone patio. This is a nice place for grilling over an open fire, taking in the unspoiled star gazing, or just enjoying the quiet hum of the forest. Beyond the patio is what we fondly dubbed “The Grassy Knoll” where guests gather around the fire. While both areas overlook the gardens we ask that you resist picking the flowers and fruits as this space is in the seed garden phase of an emerging food forest. As the young orchard advances there will be an abundance of harvest for everyone. For now, delight in the beauty or take photographs. Other things to note We’re located close to Lake Superior, the Yellow Dog River, and Lake Independence. Though we’re up in the mountains most guests enjoy recreating in the abundance of water. Be sure to pack your gear. Please clean up after yourself for your own safety and well-being. Garbage and food debri attract wildlife. Do not leave food/trash outside overnight. There are ample trash bins available for disposal. Prohibited activities include: - fireworks or explosives (sparklers are allowed) - dirt bikes, atvs, side by sides, and the like - fire making outside of the designated fire pit - trespassing onto neighboring property - cutting down trees and plants of any kind
