Updated historical farmhouse. Clean, cozy and comfortable interior. Large fenced yard. Paved driveway, house paths and parking. Cottage is on a picturesque farm with cattle pastures, hills, a river, pine trees, blueberry bushes and a (non-operating) chicken house. Farm is located outside a small, safe town of Gentry, is 10 miles to Siloam Springs, 11 miles to XNA airport, 20 miles to Bentonville. Your satisfaction is important, please review house information and policies before booking. The space Cottage is meticulously cleaned for each guest. Decor and furnishings may change with seasons. 2 BEDROOMS: 2 memory foam queen beds. Plus a small futon (71” long). 1 full BATHROOM: fresh towels and essentials. Special makeup mirror inside cupboard. (Please Note that water pressure is LOW at bath sink and water collects slowly in toilet water tank. Normal water pressure elsewhere in house.) LIVING ROOM: ample seating, and quaint reading corner. 55-inch smart television. Space for an airbed (bed and linen in bedroom). Well-maintained century-old fireplace with electric insert. DINING: table for 4. KITCHEN (full, high-ceiling): with coffee bar and cupboards stocked with small appliances, cookware and tableware. OFFICE: semi-private workspace with desk and ergonomic chair. PORCH: perfect spot to watch the sunrise and enjoy lazy afternoon tea and conversations. Listen for clip-clop of hoofs to catch glimpse of horse-drawn Amish buggies. YARD: large fenced yard with 3 gates, shady trees, seating, fire pit and basic charcoal grill. Watch beautiful sunsets. ENTERTAINMENT: abundant reading materials, board games and jigsaw puzzles. OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES: hiking, wading in river during warmer weather. Cornhole board is available upon request. HOUSE HISTORY: we enjoy the account of how this farmhouse built in 1876, was moved twice by mules from the interior to the middle of the property and finally to its current location circa 1930. It has been renovated over the years. Some historical stone houses have an exterior door in each room for the purpose of fire escape. This unique feature is still evident in this farmhouse. Although exterior doors of some rooms are no longer in use, they have been preserved. The side porch door has an antique door lock from the early 1900’s (this door is currently not in use). Guest access The entire farmhouse and fenced yard are used solely for our guests. The farmhouse is located on a working farm. To gain access to the other parts of the property, please inform us ahead so we can mow the paths. We are happy to give you directions or accompany you on a nature walking tour to the hill top and/or down to the river. Appropriate footwear is recommended. As is common in nature, caution should be taken during your exploration and all risks (immediate or future, if any, cuts, falls, bites, medical, etc.) are borne by the guests and visitors. Other things to note Charge for additional person above 4. Pet fee of $50 per stay. (If preferred, neighbor’s kennels charge $20 per day. ). Dog must be potty-trained and well-behaved. Unregistered pets are not allowed on the property. Damages by pet are charged to guest account. Use of the washer and dryer is a courtesy and if they break down during your stay, we may not be able to get them repaired immediately and kindly request in the meantime, using the new laundromat in Gentry.
