Description

(Ask about my other places if this one’s booked!) Early 1900’s secluded Cabin on the River Stay in one of the most unique and understated Airbnb's Calgary has to offer Walking distance to: Downtown Stampede & BMO Repsol Center Saddle Dome 17th ave/Red Mile Transit Groceries, coffee shops, pubs and parks Easy Check in Off street parking Fresh clean linens Step back in time and enjoy your private patio surrounded by old growth trees overlooking the River, maybe have a BBQ? The space The little cabin is lovingly preserved, with no major renovations. Original 110 yr old Hardwood floors. The 2nd floor Loft bedroom hosts a unique bathroom that is open concept, with a 110 yr old clawfoot bathtub. The basement/2nd bedroom is where you will also find the laundry room and the 2nd bathroom with shower. The riverside lot is fenced and gated off from the public, shared by three homes, all of which are available for a vacation unlike any other this close to downtown Calgary. They are side by side making this the perfect getaway for families or friends travelling together. *2nd & 3rd neighbouring house can be rented together for larger groups or families, please inquire for rates/availability. Along the riverside is shared space but each cabin has two private patios and BBQ's. Considering the house has survived 2 major floods the condition of this place is amazing. I can only hope I'll be in this good of condition when I'm this old. The lush treed yard is alive with birds and critters of all sorts. *For a limited time, free squirrel upgrade if doors left open and unattended. Bring your fishing rod and cast off while sipping a beer from the front yard, bring a good book and lay in the hammock.. Walk over to the grocery and grab some dinner for the BBQ, and maybe meet your neighbours if you feel like it. One of the most relaxing aspects of staying here is the sound of the river. This property is meant to be peaceful and enjoyable. We encourage you to have a good time but please be mindful of your neighbors and other guests. It is one of the most unique Airbnb experiences in the city, bar none. Send me a message with any questions you may have, or just hurry up and book your dates! The winter has more availability but come spring and summer with the trees and flowers in full bloom, well that's a different story. Short Term Rental Licence BL231379 Guest access Guests have full and private access to the entire home including 2 porches/decks. The riverside yard space is a fenced lot shared by three homes, common firepit area. Other things to note So you may not be able to tell from the photos but this place is over a 100 years old. This is not your modern condo with all the latest IKEA furniture. But not to worry, there is modern goodies such as heat and electricity! Whoever installed the lighting wasn’t too bright as there are some poorly placed light fixtures but hey, it’s better than walking around with a candle like they did when this cabin was new. Upon entering you may be accustomed to removing your shoes. However these original hardwood floors were not taken care of by Cinderella. The floors are cleaned after each guest but as they are well aged, and splinters could be possible, so we won't be offended if you'd like to have clean footwear inside the house. We have provided slippers for the comfort of those who would prefer. The natural beauty in the front yard sure is enjoyable and a great way to relax. However mother nature doesn’t always seem like sharing her space. During the day there are some fish flies around due to the proximity of the river and well you guessed it, the fish in that river. Those little bugs are pretty nice compared to the mosquitoes that come out in the evening. I don’t know anyone who is too fond of those little bloodsuckers so we have provided some bug spray. Please let us know if you run out, we will send a post to mother nature to kindly restrain her little ones for the remainder of your trip. One helpful tip is close the windows at night when the lights are on, it’s not just moths that will come calling. Eating outside is a great idea! If you happen to put your food down please don’t blame anyone if you notice a few bites missing. The culprit is probably one of many squirrels that reside in the area. They may be cute but don’t be fooled, they will sneak in an open door and raid the place. Their less fluffy counterpart, the mouse, may also pay you a visit. We do everything we can to keep them at bay, but this old house is just so appealing. Spiders are our friends not foes. There is a possible chance a friendly neighborhood spider friend may enter the premises at some time. Please designate at least one guest as a catch and release member if possible. If there is no chance at a safe rescue attempt then please do as you must but remember this lost comrade when the next mosquito attacks. *These old homes each have a unique scent, the wood floors are over 100 years old. For those who are sensitive, please be aware that though we don't use scented cleaners etc, but you're still going to experience walking into a 100 yr old home. Registration Details BL231378
