Ruci & Mali’s Beach Homestay #4

Bula! We‘re Ruci & Mali. We‘d like to invite you to our homestay directly at the beach on the beautiful island Wayasewa (also known as Waya Lailai), situated at the southern tip of the Yasawas. Since 2017 we hosted more than 150 guests. To experience the real Fijian culture, just leave the confines of a resort and live with us, the local people. You get involved in our village life and the daily activities here. Come and meet our family and friends as a part of our Community. The space We offer tidy rooms. Each room is equipped with mosquito nets. Some rooms have a double bed for 2 people, and other rooms have 1 single bed in a shared space. See our other listings for more details. Maximum of 12 guests. You will find a shared bathroom with a flushing toilet and a shower with cold and refreshing mountain spring water. We use solar panels with a battery that allows us to use electricity 24 hours a day. So charging your phone, camera, and tablets will be no issue. If you can’t resist using your cell or need to do further travel planning with this, don’t worry! Just get a Vodafone or Digicel Simcard o the mainland. Both have goodsignalsl here on the island! Guest access You have access to all areas of our house and garden. Choose your favourite place: directly on the beach, on our deck chairs under the palm trees, on the wooden deck or join a conversation at our dining table on the terrace. Other things to note Plan on $50 FJD (from 1 July 2025) per person per day for food. This includes 3 typical and homemade Fijian meals as well as mountain spring water, coffee, and tea. Our meals typically consist of freshly caught fish, chicken, and meat cooked with coconut milk accompanied by Cassava, vegetables, noodles, and freshly baked breads. Of course, fresh seasonal fruits are offered with every meal. Special dietary needs can be considered please tell us before arrival. We have to shop on the mainland. If you don’t feel comfortable drinking the mountain spring water, you can bring your own bottled water with you. If you fancy any other snacks or drinks, please bring them with you as well, as there are no options to buy things on the island. Transportation to/fom the main island : 1) We offer our own transportation service from and to the Mainland, Lautoca warf. We charge $200 FJD each way if we pick up only one guest. The rate for 2 people will be $150 FJD each way. If you come to us from another Island, we’ll pick you up from there as well. 2) You can arrange transport the Yasawa Flyer and get off at the Barefoot Kuata stop. Let the ferry staff know you are staying with Ruci and Mali's homestay. We will bring our small boat to the ferry to bring you to the homestay, and if we are not there you can always get the boat to Wayalailai EcoHaven, a short 2-minute walk along the beach from the homestay. You decide about your level of activities. Whether you like relaxing around the house and the beach or join us for some of our adventures: - Cast-away movie island trip 150 FJD p.P. - Snorkelling with sharks 75 FJD PP. - Village boat trip (incl. school and sandbar) 50 FJD P.P. - Line or spear fishing 40 FJD P.P. - Trawling Just ask for actual price - Saweilau cave (whole day trip) just ask for actual price (pending on fuel price) - Guided hiking to the Top of the Rock trail (fantastic for sunrise or sunset) 30 FJD If you are interested, you can end your day joining our traditional Kava ceremony or ask us for more activities like weaving lessons, guided hikes, cooking lessons, medicine walk, or massages.
