Ideally perched overlooking beautiful Quaddick Lake, this property is located approximately 60 minutes from Boston, Providence and Hartford. Vacationing at the lake is easy. You will enjoy picturesque sunrises & tranquil surroundings. This vintage 1928 cottage has recently updated features ensuring you feel calm, comfortable and far away from the busy world. Our cottage is 632 square feet of comfort and cozy for 2 adults however we can host up to two extra children (age 2-12), upon request. Although you won't likely spend much time indoors, it has the all the amenities needed to ensure you don't have to leave the lake for much. Quaddick Lake is a clear and clean New England lake with a maximum depth of 18 feet. The property also includes a dock if you want to bring your own powerboat, fishing boat or jet ski - this is an ideal water sports lake - or you can use the provided canoe and tandem kayak to explore the lake while vacationing at the Cottage. This is a private cottage. The common living areas and waterfront grounds are fully accessible to our guests. The back porch, basement and detached garage however are secured for safety. The cottage is located next to our year-round home so we are always available for questions, recommendations or to just socialize. Thompson is centrally located to Boston, Hartford and Providence. The 52 square mile, 10 village quintessential New England town is located in the northeast corner of Connecticut, bordering Massachusetts and Rhode Island. Thompson boasts the highest-banked race track (Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park - a 5/8 mile oval and a 1.7 mile road course) in New England. While here, take a quick hike to the unique Tri-State Marker located exactly on the border of Mass, Rhode Island and Connecticut or visit the site of the Great East Thompson Train Wreck in 1891, one of the worst train wrecks in American history and the only one ever to involve four trains. There are numerous hiking and biking opportunities at nearby state parks or reserves and along the pipeline and airline trails. The Town of Putnam (8 minutes away) is home to retail, grocery and liquor stores but also boasts an Antique Marketplace with over 300 antique vendors as well as awesome sidewalk cafes and numerous options for indoor and outdoor contemporary and fine dining. Quaddick Lake is nearby to several state parks in CT, MA and RI with well-marked hiking and biking trails. The town of Putnam is only 5 miles away with fine dining, unique shops and festive night life. Putnam is also home to grocery shopping, pharmacies, fitness centers, package stores, laundromats and most everything else you may need during your stay. 2 adult and 2 youth USCG-certified life jackets provided for use with kayak and/or canoe. Paddles for use with kayak and canoe included. The lake floor is a mix of sand and stone so water shoes are recommended. Firewood is not provided but available from local stores. Quaddick Lake is a 400-acre recreational lake. It is normally very peaceful but does allow powerboats and can get busy on sunny weekend afternoons. Fishing is permitted on Quaddick Lake with a current CT fishing license (available online or at local stores).
