The Pig Shed Writer’s Retreat at Barter Lady Farm

Newly renovated with all new bathroom! The Pig Shed is an idyllic setting, close to Gettysburg and McDaniel College. Dogs under 50lbs welcome for Additional Fee, see House Manual for rules/fees for dogs. A unique retreat, fantastic for exploring local sites and nature watching. The studio features a queen sized bed, a full size futon, 3/4 bath, microwave, air fryer, hot plate, gas grill, incredible views and lots of quiet, access to a pond, hiking trails, a fire pit, and can visit the chickens. The space Our property is located within the longest continual stretch of woods in Carroll County (12 miles). Our closest neighbor is close to a quarter-mile away and we are surrounded by a 300 acre dairy farm. There are hiking trails from a quarter mile to 1.2 miles available. There is a lot of wildlife, including a large variety of birds. Our pond is stocked and you are welcome to fish it or utilize the canoe. We have many beautiful star-filled nights, perfect for sitting around the fire pit. The Pig Shed was designed and built by local artist Thomas Sterner. Other things to note Dogs under 50 lbs are permitted, however, they must be accompanied on the farm at all times. If you leave the Pig Shed, the dogs unattended and MUST be crated. There is a $25 cleaning fee per dog, per night due in advance of stay. You can make payment through the resolution center through Airbnb. No cats.
