Feel free to walk down the pier in the evenings and experience the fishing boats and trawlers steam in to port. Other things to note It is important to know the following: Boat Trips to visit the Skellig Islands are hugely popular and if you can, you should make every effort to book in advance with a boat operator to avoid disappointment. Boat Trips around The Skellig Islands are also available and may also be booked in advance. All boat trips are weather dependant. The local restaurants stop serving food at 9pm in the summer and both offer al fresco dining. Both The Fisherman's Bar and The Bridge Bar host trad sessions with local musicians, and visitors are always welcome to join in, play an instrument or sing a song. The local post office closes at 5:30pm and the local shop is usually open until at least 7pm (except on Sundays). Marie, Joseph and Gloria will provide you with any information you seek and will help you in every way they can.
