The Airbnb rooms are each near my house which is 1/2 mile from the paved road. It's important to drive slow slowly on the gravel portions. If it rains heavily or snows, be sure to check in to make sure the roads are passable. A perfect quaint little getaway if you're looking to get out of the city, yet close enough to the action of Bass Lake only 10 minutes away & a spectacular scenic drive to Yosemite National Park. Our rooms are located in the center of a 50 acre forest preserve. It has been rehabilitated with forestry management principles and appears, more or less, as it did before the white man came. To the north of the property is the Sierra national forest. Looking north, you will see no other structures. Ditto, more or less, looking south. Urban dwellers always notice the quiet and the seasonal wildflowers. If you sit quietly outside for a half hour, you will hear the songs to 10 to 15 different birds and the flowing creek. Sierra national Forest and Blossom Cabin are home to many creatures. The ones closest to the house, and sometimes in the house include field mice, blue belly and alligator lizards, along with the occasional tree frog. There are 5 to 7 different snakes that live in this forest, including rattlesnakes. Snakes do not like people and hide when they hear you approaching. As long as you stay on the road you won't have a problem. At night, you may see bats, owls, and very rarely bobcats mountain lions and bears. In my 50 years, I have seen bobcat twice, bears four times, but have never been fortunate enough to see a mountain lion. We have coyotes, falcons, vultures, eagles, hawks. ravens, ground squirrels, chipmunks, grey squirrels, deer, and once I thought I saw a porcupine. You are welcome to walk down to the creek, at your own risk, where the granite is slippery and can cause falling so please use caution. If you are lucky, you may see other reptiles. You will be most comfortable staying here if you are OK with the creatures that abound. There is a private outdoor shower and bathtub with both hot and cold water. If you haven't had the experience of letting the wind dry you off, you should try it. We offer a 2nd suite if you want to bring another couple or single person. Please inquire within. Additional fees will be applied. We have plenty of space for RV parking no additional fees. Please inquire within prior to bringing your RV. We offer a car charging station (250amp, 220 V plugs) You will need to bring your own 20ft cord & appropriate converters. View outlet in the pictures. Visit the town of Northfork "THE EXACT CENTER OF CALIFORNIA." There's some excellent BBQ, farmers market, coffee shop and that hometown feel of our friendly locals. Please no pets1 No smoking! Guest access The suite has a separate entrance from the main house along with a private patio. You have access to 50 acres of Sierra National Forest. Once you arrive please park at the bottom of the trail and follow the hanging lights up to the main house, then take the stairs on the left to the deck below, this is your room. During your stay John the homeowner lives in the main house and is available for socializing if you are, otherwise he stays to himself. Cheryl the host is available for questions and emergencies. Other things to note If your GPS guides you to a storage locker or C-train please ignore this and continue on until you see the house.u must have an SUV with clearance, all wheel drive, or a 4x4 with snowchains. 2 wheel drive vehicles are required to have snow chains. We are not responsible for your vehicle if you get snowed in or out.
