Description

Mountain house nestled right across the street from DuPont State Forest. A mountain bikers dream where you'd never have to get in your vehicle to access any of over 90 miles of trails. Rocky Ridge trail head is 500 feet from the house with the 4 main parking lots (Guion Farms, Lake Imaging, Corn Mill Shoals, Fawn lake) for biking, hiking and sightseeing the waterfalls within 6 miles. Located 10 minutes to "The Hub", Pisgah Forest in Brevard, 10 minutes to Kanuga bike park and Hendersonville. The space There is a large open front deck with over 400 sqft of uncovered space and 200 sqft of covered front porch, also plenty of Adirondack chairs for relaxing. The back porch is covered with lots of seating and a fenced in yard for dogs. Yes, I allow dogs, but they are not free. Yes, I discriminate against cats for various reasons and they are not permitted on the property during bookings or for visiting. There is a $50 pet fee per visit to cover the cleaning and added wear and tear for one dog. There is an additional $35 per dog up to a total of 3 maximum. Anything outside of this will be discussed on an individual basis. It’s a larger house and extended time to remove your furry families hair throughout the entire house is required. The additional fee(s) will be added when I accept the request so know that the per night charge will be slightly higher than the site quotes. Currently Airbnb does not have a work around for this. The home directly behind mine are my neighbors "Bill and Diane". They are both very friendly and you'll often see them cruising around in the 4 wheeler. Please be considerate with noise in the evening out back as DuPont is their home. The garage space is large with a 9 bike wall rack, bike work stand and a work bench with basic tools to use and floor pump and shock pump. The entrance will not allow for vehicle parking inside, but motorcycles are welcomed. There are 2 large oversized maps showing all the trails and difficulty for DuPont and Pisgah forest. I will keep adding favorite routes and time you'll need on the mountain as I ride and explore. Guest access Guests will have access to all parts of the property except for the locked owners area in the garage a storage room in the master bathroom and 1 cabinets in the kitchen. The fireplace is OUT OF SERVICE and the firewood is not for use. There is a burn ban in the forest area that North Carolina forestry takes seriously. You will immediately be removed from the house with no refund if it’s brought to my attention Additionally, the gravel lower driveway is shared with the next door home. Access or parking is not permitted in any area off the tar driveway and blocking the entrance to the neighbors house is also not permitted As far as accessibility goes, there is level access into the house through a separate front entrance. However, there will be a "step down" obstacle to access the main living room, back porch, uncovered front porch and one of the bedrooms. The bathrooms are sufficient size, but not to handle wheel chairs and there are no extra railings or features that are present or will be ever be installed. Other things to note I bought The Disconnect at the end of 2020 as a vacation home after one visit to Brevard and a year of searching. It's a place that I love and a place that I call home whenever I'm there , hopefully guests feel the same when they visit. It makes me extremely happy to have people enjoy the space. This is still a work in progress to get it how I ultimately see it as done. I have attempted to provide as many amenities as possible so that you don't need to pick up unnecessary things at the grocery store including spices and other items. The house is equipped with Starlink high speed but due to the location on the mountain and all the trees faster speeds and service may vary. Time of the year and storms play a factor. The house is 1962 and so is the septic. Paper products are provided so please use them and for obvious reasons do not flush anything other than the provided paper product . There are also plenty of bathroom towels and linens with multiple options for bed coverings to accommodate for the weather/temperature. The water is well but run through a whole house system with additional filtration on the refrigerator. Hopefully outdoor lovers always understand that there is a very real risk of running into the wildlife outdoors, and an occasional small stain or scratch, a runaway hair, a speck of dust or dirt, an unwelcomed guest with 4 6 or 8 legs that sneaks in to visit, or any other flaw that is inherent to the interior of every home on the mountain or wilderness. I make the best reasonable effort to keep up with mitigating these potential issues and have yet to have any complaints. I do appreciate knowing about any flaws that I need to address. It's important to note, I do allow dogs. I bring my 3 hounds on every trip and as best and detailed as it can be cleaned there's always the situation you may have a run in with a random dog hair. I love my animals as if they were my children so if it's an issue for you to have this possibility you may want to find another spot; Murphy, Reilly and Penny will understand. Immediate cancellation and eviction will occur for the following: 1)parties/gatherings 2) more guests than disclosed 3) tampering with any electronic or security devices on the property 4)smoking ANYWHERE on the property 5)outside fires (or inside) of any kind. The grill does not count 6)disturbing the neighborhood This includes any reasonable calls from the neighbors or any visit from the local police 7)destruction of anything on the property
