A noise machine, room darkening blinds and plenty of spare blankets and pillows ensure that you will sleep in comfort. A dresser and walk-in closet provide ample room to store luggage and personal belongings, and a bedroom TV provides a comfortable place to recharge after a full day exploring the area. The newly renovated, modern kitchen is fully stocked and perfect for toasting a morning bagel, reheating leftovers from the delicious local restaurants and enjoying your morning coffee or tea. The kitchen features a fridge, microwave, coffee maker, electric kettle, blender, and toaster oven, as well as a full size sink and plenty of counter space. Extras, such as coolers, growlers, water bottles, and bar essentials are also provided for use during your stay. The large dining table and counter height bar are the perfect places to enjoy your meals, or to set up a work station. Roku devices are connected to both TVs for relaxing evenings after a day of exploring Charlottesville, with Netflix and Hulu included free of charge. The clean, bright bathroom showcases new mosaic tile floors, modern hardware and open shelving and comes stocked with towels, a hair dryer, basic first aid supplies, and a magnified makeup mirror. The shower/tub has complimentary shampoo, conditioner and body wash provided. The unit includes a laundry room with a full size dryer, as well as a drying rack, iron/ironing board, clothing steamer, laundry detergent, and dryer sheets. **Please note: Unfortunately, we do not have a washing machine available for use at this time. The dryer is still in perfect working order, and we have laundry soap available to use if you want to bring your clothes to a laundromat or wash clothes in the sink/tub, but the washing machine itself is out of commission until we are able to replace the drain line. A long, gravel driveway adjacent to the unit provides plenty of off-street parking. Guest access Guests will have access to the complete basement space, including the walk in closet/laundry room area and the entire driveway. When arriving, pull into the driveway and park in front of the gate. The entrance to the unit is on your right. The space beyond the gate, including the garage and backyard are not accessible to guests. Other things to note This is a private-entrance basement apartment in a home built in the 1950s. We live in the upstairs portion of the house with our 1.5-year-old Flat Coated Retriever and our 1-year-old daughter, so some normal household noise transfer between floors is possible. This is not something guests typically find disruptive, but those seeking complete silence may prefer a standalone accommodation. We truly want our guests to feel comfortable during their stay, and we’re always happy to help if any questions or concerns come up. As shown in the photos, the ceiling height varies due to HVAC runs typical of basement spaces. Most ceilings are approximately 7.5 feet, with a few areas closer to 6.5 feet. (Our 6'2" family members have stayed comfortably, but we like to be transparent.) There are four steps down to enter the unit, with no stairs inside. A safety handrail is installed. The bathroom shower/tub combo has a higher-than-standard tub ledge (20.5"). A step stool and grab bar are provided for comfort and safety.
