This was the design and construction technique that the Architect used in 1975 in the development of LA RONDA, which is initially confirmed in its particular volumetric form. GUATAVITA History and Current Events During the pre-Columbian era, Guatavita was the second most important Zuby (clan) of the Zipasgo (Political - Administrative Muisca division). It was also the religious capital of the Zipasgo, since the ceremony that gave rise to the legend of EL DORADO was held in the GUATAVITA LAGOON Colony On March 18, 1593, the town of Guatavita was founded by Oidor Miguel de Ibarra. Relocation For reasons of national order and in order to control the continuous and annual floods of the Sabana de Bogota, it was decided to build the Tomine Reservoir that would flood the urban area of Guatavita and make its relocation mandatory. Architect Jaime Ponce de Leon Mallarino took on the challenge of designing and building the new settlement, where he had to adjust to two fundamental conditions; FIRST - The inhabitants of Guatavita La Vieja asked the Architect to use the materials of the region (stone-brick) in the new construction and to use especially the MUD TILES of the original houses of the old town and SECOND - The decision to focus the Architectural design to convert the new urban center into a TOURIST CENTER, taking advantage of its Cultural Heritage, Location, History, Legend and Geographical Attributes.
