Walk just 2 blocks to Bone Island Grill (closed on Sundays) for great drinks and food, Subway, and Polly's Market for groceries and supplies. Klavon's Pizzeria and Pub is just 2 miles away and has wonderful pizza and pub food in a sports -themed atmosphere. We are close to over 6 wineries including Sandhill Crane Winery, Cherry Creek Cellars, and Chateau Aeronautique. Bars, Restaurants and Shopping: We are just a short drive to the quaint downtown areas of Jackson, Ann Arbor, Adrian, Chelsea, Tecumseh, Lansing, and Marshall. Vandercook Lake park is so close that it feels like it's almost in our backyard. It has an awesome playground, a boat launch, fishing, grills and more. The lake connects to 5 lakes and the Grand River. Grab our wagon with the provided Lake gear and float or kayak the day away. We provide 2 inflatable kayaks and will be adding regular kayaks soon. If you have a large amount of gear, parking is also available at the lake. It's also a great place to catch the sunset or enjoy a picnic or barbecue. Restrooms are on site. The park does not have sandy beach area, but you can find one at Clark Lake County Park or other nearby lakes. Kayak and stand up paddle board rentals are available at Vandercook Lake seasonally from May 30 to August 31st, weather permitting. We have one bike and will be adding more bikes soon. This charming, tree lined neighborhood is great for biking. The scenic Falling Waters bike trail is also nearby. Bike rental is available on the trail at Jackson County BCycle at 3720 Weatherwax Dr., Jackson, MI 49203. Meckley's Farm and Cider Mill is 5 minutes away We are one mile from The Grande Golf course and there are over 20 golf courses in the area Summit Township in Jackson is comprised of a vibrant mix of welcoming and up and coming neighborhoods, growing commercial corridors, with a mix of recreational and cultural activities. It has an abundance of natural beauty in well maintained parks, lakes, trails, nature preserves and golf courses. The township and the surrounding areas contain an abundance of lakes, outdoor recreation and water sports, blended with various city attractions and amenities. There are local events and festivals to enjoy throughout the year. Nearby wineries are Sandhill Crane Winery, Chateau Aeronautique, Winery North of 12 and Cherry Creek cellars. Many of them have special events, food and live music. The Cascades Park/Sparks County Foundation Park (Just 4 miles away): Widely known for the illuminated waterfall known as The Cascades. The Cascades are illuminated Wednesday through Sunday from Memorial Day through Labor Day, 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. with an admission charge. The Cascades is an illuminated,man-made waterfall and is unlike anything else you have ever seen. The colored lights illuminate the entire sky as they change color with the music. Climb the 126 stairs along the sprawling fountain and watch thousands of gallons of water flow over the waterfalls every minute. A spectacular view of the park awaits you at the top. At the Cascades park you can also play in the water at the splash pad (admission fee/lounge chairs/concessions available). Roller-blade, bike, run or walk on the paved paths, enjoy a concert at the Rotary Band Shell, play 18 holes of golf on the championship course, have a picnic under one of the shelters, or go fishing at the Urban Fishery. And don’t forget to stop by the Cascades Ice Cream Co Featuring “Frozen Dome Malts,” open March through September. Explore the Falling Waters Bike Trail. Park and rent a bike at the east end of the trail at Jackson County BCycle kiosk just 5 minutes away (3720 Weatherwax Dr., Jackson MI 49203) Walk-Up User: $6 for 3 Hours ($2/hour each additional hour) The 10.5-mile travels through natural springs and lakes that form the headwaters of four major Michigan rivers. 3720 Weatherwax Dr. to Sparks Foundation County Park | 1.75 Miles 3720 Weatherwax Dr. to Grand River Arts Walk | 5.0 Miles 3720 Weatherwax Dr. to Concord Trailhead | 10.5 Miles A Concord, the trail crosses over the Kalamazoo River where you can view a great expanse of wetlands filled with abundant wildlife Clarklake is also a beautiful nearby lake and it has 2 restaurants with outdoor seating and views of the lake. Clarklake also has 2 public swimming areas - Clarklake County park and Hyde Road Township Park. You can also rent a boat from Eagle Point Marina on Clarklake. Bike rental and paddleboard rental is available at the Gear Garage too. The Spirit trail is a bike path that goes around the lake. The Ella Sharp Park and museum and surrounding area with beautiful historic homes is a few miles away. Mini golf is available at the park too. Jet Ski rental is available at the nearby Michigan Center Lake Boat Launch. Devil's Lake also has jet ski and pontoon boat rentals at Rob's Rentals. W.J. Hayes State Park is located on the southern shore of Wamplers Lake. The 78-acre park offers a large swimming area, two boat launches, a fishing pier, trails, a picnic shelter, interpretive programs and more. Cambridge Junction Historic State Park is home to a popular farmer's market, a reconstructed 1840s barn, the Walker Tavern Historic Site, vintage baseball games, concerts and more. Watkins Lake State Park and County Preserve is known for its quiet setting, wildlife viewing and its 5-mile trail. In addition, Lake Hudson Recreation Area is located just 25 miles away and is home to a designated dark sky preserve, a campground, a swimming beach and more.
