The space THE LOVEBIRDS' LOOKOUT The perfect getaway for anyone looking to disconnect and immerse themselves in the lushness of nature, with a drink in their hand and in the comfort of a deck chair, of course. HOME DESCRIPTION This is a little gem of a cabin! Built in 1928, it was one of the first cabins on the street, and they built it in the perfect spot to see all of the forest valleys below and all the way out to the Apple Valley. When you walk in, you're greeted by maybe the best part of the cabin - the kitchen. For a cozy one-bedroom cabin, they built a good-sized kitchen! We've added some lighting and decorative touches, but it was a stunning space to begin with. Before sunset, the light filters in through the trees into the kitchen, and it fills the room with a beautiful, warm glow. From there, you enter the living room with a lodge-style vaulted ceiling, log beams, and a wood-burning stove fireplace built with the granite right from the property. Adjacent to the living room is the bedroom with a queen bed, princess canopy, and a huge walk-in closet for such a little place! It's empty, but you won't run out of space if you wish to use the drawers and shelves. The bathroom features an oversized tub and original building elements like the vintage, hand-painted sink and pine vanity. And finally, the deck is probably where you'll want to spend some time relaxing. It's amazing how you can park your car just steps away from the front door, then take about 20 steps to the back deck, and all of a sudden, you're in the forest with miles and miles of views! It's why they chose this parcel back in 1928. It's the perfect spot to view the sunrise over the Apple Valley with your morning coffee, or unwind in the shade of the big oak tree with your favorite cocktail in hand. Guests can enjoy the many other comfortable amenities that our house provides. HOME AMENITIES Our home is heated by a mounted wall heater and wood-burning fireplace original to the home. But we're still close to everything - the village is just 4 miles away (a short 10 minute drive) and Jensen's Market & Starbucks Coffee are just minutes away. Guest access GUEST ACCESS All of it! You have access to the entire house. The cabin is setup to be your home away from home. Note: There is one storage closet adjacent to the bathroom that is locked and not accessible to guests. *Arrival & check-in after 5pm* *Departure & check-out by 11am* Note to guests: Q: DO WE ALLOW EARLY CHECK-INS? A: Unfortunately, we cannot accommodate early check-ins -- as it will not allow our housekeeper enough time to fully prepare the home for you. Q: CAN I GET A LATE CHECK-OUT? A: Unfortunately, we cannot grant late check-outs. Our housekeeper is on a tight schedule to clean multiple homes, and we cannot accommodate a late check-out request. Thank you for your understanding. PARKING - There is convenient parking just outside the front entrace - please avoid parking on the street because there's a strictly enforced no-parking zone on our street. **NOISE DISTURBANCES - Please be respectful of all neighbors. Noise travels easily in the mountains & we ask that our guests be respectful of the full-time residents that live nearby. Your reservation is for a quiet, relaxing & enjoyable stay! Q: IS THE PROPERTY ISOLATED? A: The Property is located in a mountain community and is surrounded by neighboring cabins. The community itself is surrounded by forest. ** And with our National Forest Vehicle Adventure Pass, you can park/visit any one of the many US Forest Service trails and recreation areas. There are a wide variety to choose from, ranging from easy, stroller friendly walks with animal footprint trails for kids, to more advanced hikes with rock formations and hot springs! As a guest, you are welcome to use all of the amenities provided. We want our guests to enjoy all we have to offer. All we ask is that you treat our home with care. Happy Travels! Other things to note *Prepare to disconnect, unplug, unwind and reconnect with nature! -Our home is heated by a mounted wall heater and wood-burning fireplace original to the home. -No A/C, we have fans to cool down the living area and bedroom. **There is no: TV, cable, nor wifi! But there is pretty good cell coverage from the major carriers. -Sorry, no pets/animals. **We promise our allergy-sensitive guests a pet/dander-free home. -Smoke-free home. No smoking or vaping. **Thank you! Our home is heated by a mounted wall heater and wood-burning fireplace original to the home. -No BBQ/grilling on premises. **Due to the Extreme Fire Danger** To reduce risk of wildfire during severe weather conditions, Southern California Edison reserves the right to temporarily cut electrical service to its customers, and we have no control over that. Our guests understand that there will be no refunds for power outages, and that they'll happily accept the unlikely inconvenience for the sake of preserving our forests! Q: WHAT TYPE OF WEATHER SHOULD I EXPECT ON MY TRIP? A: PLEASE COME ADEQUATELY PREPARED!!! Be sure to check the local forecast for weather conditions. In the fall & winter months expect fog, rain, sleet and snow. Roads can be very icy, and the owners cannot be responsible for weather or driving conditions. Q: DO I NEED TIRE CHAINS ON MY VEHICLE? A: During the SNOW season it is wise to carry snow chains. CHP requires possession of chains/cables when traveling mountain roads in icy conditions. Chains can be purchased at the base of the mountain near Highland Avenue & Hwy 330 at the Super Walmart. *Be sure to get the right size for your tires. Q: WILL I HAVE TO SHOVEL SNOW? A: YES! Our neighborhood road is plowed by the county - but our front entry, parking and deck are not. Guests are responsible for removing snow should it snow during their stay. **Snow shovels are located at the cabin -- shoe/boot chains are highly recommended when conditions are snowy and icy. We look forward to sharing our mountain retreat with you! Cheers, David & Patricia Registration Details CESTRP-2020-01015
