Old Stables - on historic estate with spa complex

Nestled near the village of Pensford overlooking the stunning Mendip foothills in the Chew Valley, Old Stables sits in extensive grounds with access to a heated swimming pool with a hot tub, steam room and changing rooms. The space Old Stables is located adjacent to East Wing (sleeps six + two) in ten acres of beautiful grounds. Originally built in 1800 as part of the Belluton Grange estate, the grounds retain many Georgian features, including a well and a rare Georgian Horse Wash, utilising a natural spring. Gone are the horses and groom - instead you’ll find glorious accommodation for eight over four bedrooms, with a sofa bed and child’s bed available for up to three more guests if required (*extra fee). Retaining its original character, there is plenty of space for everyone to relax and dine together. Old Stables benefits from two reception rooms; The Garden Room/Conservatory has a large dining table seating up to 14 guests and magnificent views of the iconic Pensford viaduct, straddling the Chew Valley, that speaks of the heyday of train travel. The spacious sitting room has comfortable seating and a wood burner. A fully equipped open plan breakfasting kitchen is next to the living area. All of these rooms have French doors that lead onto the garden. Upstairs are three en-suite bedrooms, two with super king beds that can be made up as twins if required, and the third with a 5' king. Two have bathrooms with freestanding baths and separate showers, one has a shower room. The fourth bedroom is located downstairs and has full size bunk-beds and access to a downstairs washroom. Discover the purpose built swimming pool complex housing a ten-metre pool hot tub, changing rooms and steam cubicle. Shared with guests at East Wing, the amenities are bookable for fully exclusive use in advance of your stay. Outside the private terrace has ample seating for your party, with loungers, comfy chairs and a charcoal barbecue. The garden itself is shared with guests staying at East Wing and the owners. We can also offer massages, aromatherapy treatments and personal trainer assessment which can be arranged by yourselves at an extra charge. Guests have access to a laundry room (shared with East Wing) containing two washing machines, tumble dryers and an additional dishwasher in case of parties! THE LAYOUT Ground Floor: Entrance hallway. Garden Room/Conservatory with dining table seating up to 14 guests, underfloor heating, magnificent views across open countryside and French doors onto the extensive grounds. Large open plan breakfasting kitchen with hand-made wooden units, granite worktops and a slate floor. French doors open onto the patio overlooking the landscaped garden. The large family table seats six to eight for jolly breakfasts with additional seating on stools around the central island that seats 8 more. A large shared laundry room/boot room with two washing machines and tumble dryers lead off the kitchen, with additional dishwasher. Shared with East Wing, each property has a private locked access. Ground Floor: Damson bedroom with 3’ bunk beds and a bijou pull-out bed, and access to a small washroom with wc and wash basin off the hall, with low access height. First floor: Oak Suite - This double-aspect bedroom has views over the garden and open countryside. Comfortable zip and link super king bed (can convert to twin beds) with a bijou pull-out bed, arm chairs and TV. The en suite has a walk-in shower. Chestnut Suite - The largest bedroom, with a comfortable zip and link super king bed (can convert to twin beds) with a bijou pull-out bed and TV. The en suite has a freestanding slipper bath, walk-in shower and his 'n' hers basins. Silver Birch bedroom with comfortable 5’ bed, TV, and en suite with a freestanding bath and separate walk-in shower. There are also clothes hanging facilities, an ironing board and steam iron Large 4K TV with a Playstation, Android TV box and a Blu-Ray player in lounge, TV in all 3 first floor bedrooms WiFi internet access* A highchair is available on request Large selection of board games Large 8-seater outdoor teak table with chairs and charcoal barbecue SWIMMING POOL COMPLEX The purpose built swimming pool complex houses a ten-metre swimming pool with a 'Fluvo jet' to exercise against, a hot tub which seats 5 people (at a squeeze) a shower and steam cubicle, robes, slippers, spa towels and hair dryer. The temperature of the pool is 88 °F / 31 ° C and the temperature of the hot tub is 101 ° F / 38 ° C. Bring your own CDs, use those provided, or listen to the radio or Bluetooth; feel free to just sit in the pool room to read, relax or meditate. Swimming Pool Spa Complex - Pool, Hot Tub & Steam Room It is essential that you make initial daily booking slots at the swimming pool spa complex to secure exclusive use, so that only your group will use the amenities. The pool is only used either by yourselves, or the adjoining property, however, due to popular demand, slots are limited, so prior to check-in, you can book two slots per day, one in the morning and one in the afternoon at 8am to 10am, 10:30am to 12:30pm, 1pm to 3pm, or 3:30pm to 5:30pm. Furthermore, you can book up to three free 6 - 8 pm slots weekly. After you arrived at the property and settled in,, you can book an additional free slot per morning & afternoon. There are towels, however we do recommend that you bring your own swimming cossies!! If you do not own one, you can purchase one in any of the shopping centres in the surrounding cities of Bath, Bristol and Wells. You are welcome to bring your own wine to the spa or purchase on site. Guest access You will have the whole cottage to yourselves. Beds will be made up with linen and towels are provided. The laundry room is shared with the neighbouring property (East Wing) and each cottage has locked entry. There is a private terrace with charcoal BBQ and ample seating, with loungers and comfy chairs. The Garden is shared with East Wing, owner's family & friends. The pool complex is reservable for exclusive use. Other things to note The owners live next-door, and do not intrude unless guests request assistance. Please supervise all children as there are hazards in the grounds including a well outside the Garden room to the front of the house and a Georgian horse wash on the right of the courtyard. The climbing frame and playhouse are strictly not for use of guests.
