Description

A rural retreat combining the magic of wild Scotland with the tranquillity of its countryside. Set in the heart of the Kintyre peninsula, the farmhouse is surrounded by fields of livestock and newly replanted forests. We're a tiny 3 acres smallholding, therefore you can expect a flock of hens running toward you hoping for a handful of grains or the loud grunt of the ever-hungry piggies. Stay with us to explore the beauty of Kintyre or hop on a ferry to the nearby islands of Islay, Arran or Gigha The space Located only 15 minutes drive from the picturesque fishing village of Tarbert, the farmhouse is set in a rural quiet area. The property is neatly divided between owners' quarters and guests' accommodation allowing for plenty of privacy during your stay. The accommodation comprises of a double bedroom with an en-suite shower recently refurbished to a high standard. (Another double en-suite room is available in a separate listing). A communal guest lounge with a log burner provides the perfect space to unwind with a book or a dram of whisky. Furthermore, you can enjoy a guests-only part of the garden or relax on the decking, the ideal spot to savour the many breathtaking sunsets. We aim to provide you with a true break from the hectic life, therefore a non-existent phone signal, limited WiFi, and no TV in the house should be seen as a welcome help to a media detox! With care for the environment always in mind, we try to use only natural and eco-friendly cleaning products. Your bed linen and towels, whilst freshly laundered and bright white, might not be ironed if the energy generated by our solar panels is not sufficient prior to your arrival. There are tea & coffee facilities, so you can enjoy a cuppa whilst looking at geese & chickens roaming around the garden. The B&B is run alongside a working smallholding so you can expect the sounds and sights of farm animals - ducks, geese, poultry & bleating of the lambs. Our hen girls supply the eggs for your breakfasts; duck and guinea fowl eggs are also available in season. The farmhouse is an ideal base for exploring the Kintyre peninsula with wonderful walks straight from our doorstep so don't forget your walking boots or wellies. Guest access Your arrival will probably be hailed by our 3 (over)friendly dogs - Canna, Islay & Skye and you'll be cross-examined by our inquisitive geese. From the car park area, private access leads to guest accommodation and there are no spaces you'll be sharing with us, the keepers. Whilst we are available to help with anything you might need, we aim to give you as much privacy as possible. Other things to note SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS We hope that you will love your stay with us, but if there's anything you need that we haven't listed or you have special requirements (including severe allergies), please contact us via booking request to make sure we can accommodate it. PETS / ALLERGIES We love animals but unfortunately, we are unable to accept pets. There are free-ranging animals on the property, as well as our 3 friendly dogs. Whilst our dogs are not allowed in the guest accommodation, you might want to give us a miss if you suffer from pet allergies or don't enjoy the animals' company. CHILDREN At times we might be able to accommodate infants and children, but please enquire before making your booking via booking request. HIKING & CYCLING HOLIDAYS The Farmhouse is rurally located and public transport is very limited, please bear this in mind when planning if you are considering walking/hiking holidays. At present there are no bike storage facilities at the Farmhouse. DINNERS / IN-HOUSE CATERING If you are planning on eating out in local restaurants (Tarbert, Campbeltown, Lochgilphead) early booking is advisable. We are regularly offering 3 course set dinner menus focusing on local and foraged produce. Availability and menu will be confirmed a few days prior to your arrival and booking in advance is essential. Our breakfast consists of buffet style selection of cereals, preserves and bread as well as cooked to order option. Service runs from 7.30 to 9.00 am. Please note the upgrade works at the farmhouse are not 100% completed as yet. Whilst we guarantee there won't be building noises or works during your stay, please excuse our temporary not-so-great appearance on the outside.
