No concrete as far as the eye can see, but a genuine working fishing port — the leading port for bluefin tuna fishing with the seinche net, and the fourth largest port in the Bouches-du-Rhône department. Set within the commune of Martigues (13500), officially recognised as a seaside resort yet remaining deeply authentic, Carro is one of the best-kept secrets of the Côte Bleue — a wild and protected coastline, listed among the best-preserved natural sites in the PACA region. Waking Up to the Rhythm of the Port Every morning from 8:30 AM to 12:00 PM (weather permitting), the harbour quay comes alive in a symphony of colours and voices. Fishermen bring in the night's catch — sea bream, sea bass, red mullet — and the stalls fill up before the eyes of locals and visitors alike. Ensuès-la-Redonne Beaches: small wild pebble coves, accessible on foot only, unsupervised — for lovers of authenticity and chosen solitude.
