The neighborhood is beautiful and calm, yet centrally located, and includes several historic parks and gardens as well as museums and galleries such as the Botanical Garden and King's Garden – also known as Rosenborg Castle Gardens – the Østre Anlæg park, SMK/National Gallery of Denmark, and the Hirschsprung Collection right across the street. The romantic Østre Anlæg park is laid out with lakes, winding paths and hilly terrain on what was formerly the ramparts of Copenhagen. In this park, you can clearly see the outline of the old fortifications thanks to well-preserved lakes and bastions.
