Mid Century Hideaway 206
Cool and comfortable second floor apartment in a renovated historic building. This one bedroom apartment feels like you've stepped into 1963, only with air conditioning, WiFi, and a microwave. The bathroom is spacious, and the bed king sized, and there's a futon for one more person, besides. Mix yourself a cocktail in the fully equipped kitchen and relax in your sitting room; move the communal deck later when the sun is setting. This is the spot for a relaxing escape from the rat race. The Clarkdale Lodge is an historic building that was built in 1914 and originally used as a boarding house for unmarried employees of the local copper smelter. It was subsequently converted into apartments which we are now modernizing to a high standard while preserving historic details where possible. All apartments are tastefully furnished and have HDTV's in both sitting and bedrooms. High speed Internet access is provided throughout via WiFi, and kitchens are fully equipped and ready to use. In addition to the apartment you are staying in, all guests have access to a public sitting area upstairs stocked with books and games, and a second story view deck overlooking the Verde Valley. That deck, which you may have noticed in the photos is a large shared area accessed from the upstairs hall. It has gorgeous views and makes a perfect place to sit and have a glass of wine in the early evenings. There is a shaded patio area underneath it on the ground floor for when the weather is too warm to sit in the sun. We're often in our office (#104 - at the back corner of the building, on the ground floor), but if not, most likely nearby. We can always be reached by phone, if you have any questions or requests. Clarkdale is a lovely small town, with 2 good restaurants (Mexican, and American), 2 neighborhood bars, a wonderful bakery/cafe, 2 museums, a wine tasting room, and a charming small Town Park, just across the street from the Lodge. The local Verde Canyon Railroad is not to be missed, if you'd enjoy a scenic and relaxing afternoon outing into some great back country. Clarkdale is a great town for walking, too, with sweet and inviting little neighborhoods to explore.
