The property is located a short distance from town and beaches tucked in a lush green valley with grazing cattle and giant royal palms. The property at Casa Trópica is filled with tropical flowers including birds of paradise & heliconias, palms, a grassy lawn, and fruit trees for guests to enjoy. This private tiny house space comes with crisp AC, queen-sized bed and ensuite bathroom with the best hot water heater on the property. **** The Escape pod has a lofted bed that sits about 40” off the ground and does require use of provided loft stool for entering and exiting the bed. Please send us a message if you intend in bringing a pet as I have a dog and just want to make sure they will be compatible. Chapo has free reign of the fenced in yard. He is a very sweet & friendly PR yellow lab rescue. We are an eco-conscious household which means we like to minimize the use of single-use disposables, instead, the house comes equipped with hand towels, dish towels, cloth napkins & a gravity-fed water filter to skip the bottled water. We prioritize using natural cleaners, detergents, and soaps that are environmentally + skin-friendly. We do have neighbors with children so the vibe of Casa Trópica is intended for the chilled-out visitor to preserve the Tranquillo vibe of the valley and show respect to our awesome neighbors. Guest access Front house shared outdoor kitchen and porch + grassy lawn up to the Casita. Other things to note 🌴 Disclaimer 🌊 Is this place a good fit for me? In a nutshell: This is a soulful, lived-in guesthouse in a real Puerto Rican neighborhood, just 1 mile from town and beaches. It’s affordable, full of character, and best for travelers who value authenticity and simplicity over hotel-style perfection. 🏡 About This Space This is not a hotel or boutique hotel — it’s my personal home and guesthouse, created with care to offer budget-friendly, local-style accommodation in a real Puerto Rican neighborhood. There are three units on the property: • The Casita, located in the back and completely private • The Loft and Escape Pod, which share an outdoor kitchen and patio I live on-site for about six months of the year and work in the States the other half to keep this Puerto Rico dream alive. I’ve built this space slowly, with creativity and love — and I’m happy to share it with those who appreciate its energy. 🌿 A Few Quick Notes We provide a clean, comfortable, and affordable stay — but don’t offer upscale hotel amenities like single-use plastic shampoos or conditioners. Instead, we provide an all-natural Castile soap in hand pumps that can be used for the whole body. Also, roosters are part of daily life in Puerto Rican neighborhoods. You may hear them at unexpected hours — it’s part of the local soundscape. There are no roosters next door, but a neighbor up the hill has a few. If you’re coming from the States, it’s always appreciated when guests try to speak some Spanish and support locally owned Puerto Rican businesses. Puerto Rico is often treated like part of the U.S. but it deserves the cultural respect of a Latin American country. 📌 Guest Stay Agreement & Policies If anything feels off during your stay, you must notify us while you’re still here so we can help. We can’t address issues after checkout. Most things can be resolved quickly and kindly with real-time communication. ⚡ Island Power & Water Puerto Rico’s power grid isn’t up to US or Urban PR standards and outages happen. Last year, we had about 7 days total without power. We also occasionally lose water, though less often. Our solar backup keeps lights, fans, Wi-Fi, outlets, and the fridge running — but not air conditioning. 🏠 What to Expect You’ll have: • Air conditioning, hot water, and high-speed Starlink internet (works great except during extreme storms) • A clean modern rustic, surf-shack-style space with good energy • Solar power that covers most needs during outages ***you will receive detailed driving instructions via air bnb message 24 hrs prior to your arrival. Check in instructions, keypad, lock, and wifi are all found in the app arrival guide and will be available 24 hrs prior to your arrival We’re located just 1 mile from downtown Rincón — close enough for beaches and restaurants, far enough for peace, frogs, and starry skies. 🛖 Shared Property, Private Spaces Each unit is private inside. Shared areas include garden paths and parking. • The Casita is fully private • The Loft and Pod share an outdoor kitchen and patio • I live onsite part of the year with my sweet dog, Chapo, who loves to greet guests & chill 🐾 Pet Policy We welcome friendly, socialized dogs, as long as they’re booked in the res we ask they are: • Good with people and other pets • Supervised at all times • Cleaned up after 🌴 Outdoor Living & Island Wildlife • Open-air kitchens and patios mean nature is part of the vibe • You may see lizards, insects, cats, or dogs from the neighborhood • Puerto Rico has no lethal animals or insects — no need to stress! • Wind may blow in leaves, pollen, or dust between cleanings 🌊 Salt Air & Appliance Wear We’re near the ocean, so salt and humidity cause wear on metal and fixtures. You might notice rust or mineral stains as our water is mineral rich — but everything is clean and works well. Water is considered potable & we provide Berkey filters for drinking water. 🚧 Rincón Is Growing Rincón has grown quickly in recent years. It’s now popular with digital nomads and long-stay visitors. You may encounter: • Roadwork or potholes • Construction noise • New homes or rentals being built nearby The culture remains strong, but change is happening fast. 🙌 Local Team & Self-Sufficiency We’re a small staff and my cleaners have young children. We try to respond as soon as it’s possible, but please keep this in mind . Please be comfortable with simple things like: • Lighting a gas stove • Resetting Wi-Fi • swapping a propane tank if staff is not immediately available Note: Concrete surfaces can be slippery when wet — please walk carefully in rain. 📞 After-Hours Contact If something urgent happens late at night or you need assistance, please call (don’t text). I don’t wake up to messages, but I’ll answer the phone. ✅ This Place Is for You If: • You value authenticity and affordability over luxury • You’ve stayed in comfy & rustic or alternative places before • You’re flexible, self-reliant, and love nature • You’re traveling with a friendly, socialized dog • You’re okay with shared outdoor space • You’re kind, respectful, and wish to experience Puerto Rican culture ❌ This Place Isn’t for You If: • You expect hotel-style service or luxury finishes or require daily cleaning services • You need guaranteed A/C during outages • You’re uncomfortable with nature or neighborhood life • You have a reactive or unsocialized pet or you don't like animals • You expect total silence. It’s probably one of the most quiet neighborhoods in Rincon, but there are neighbors and animals around. 🌺 Final Thoughts This is a soulful, lived-in guesthouse — not a boutique hotel or resort — and we welcome those who appreciate that magic. We’re ocean enthusiasts and surfers, and we love hosting fellow lovers of waves, sunsets, and tropical life. By booking you're accepting this disclaimer as a guest agreement. ¡Bienvenidos! 😊
