Description
When people look for a rustic getaway, they often mean 5 star wrapped in corrugated iron. This is not that. This is truly rustic - old timber from the cattleyards line the base of the walls. The bathroom basin is from Nanna's 150 year old house. The tin lining is from the roof of our shearing shed, complete with authentic rust marks. Not suitable for small children due to stairs. Come experience our 'Shed House' - a truly rustic accomodation experience in the High Country. The space Split across two levels the lower level is a small kitchenette with breakfast nook looking out onto our horse arena (yes, you can bring your four legged friends). Upstairs there is a single space with a bed, fold out couch (this can be used as a second bed if required) tv with Netflix and bathroom with separate toilet. Please make sure you like your room mates as there are no doors ! Just to re-iterate, as a few guests have mentioned they were surprised by this, there are NO DOORS internally. Think of it as a honeymoon style retreat, minus the rose petals and champagne. This is a rural retreat. There is no Uber or DoorDash and public transport is basically non existent (or very expensive.) Make sure you are comfortable being in an ag setting where you might come across tractors, horses, motorbikes, kids, trucks etc. This is a working property so while we try to keep noise to a minimum, sometimes bellowing bulls are unavoidable. All linen, towels included. This is a great way to experience a slice of ag life without the hassle of feeding cows at 6am :) Guest access This is entirely seperate from the main residence Other things to note Dogs / horses are welcome but please let us know BEFORE you arrive so we can put our own four legged friends away. The internal stairs means this property is not suitable for small children: we hope to change this in the future. Access to Mt Buller: We get lots of questions about access to Mt Buller. We are located approx 1km from the closest Mt Buller bus stop (end of our road), and around 1.5 km from the local ski hire shop/chains rental etc. You can drive yourself from the Shed House to Mt Buller, but you will more than likely need to hire chains (unless it is towards the end of the season). We are approx a 15 minute drive from the Resort Gates, and about 15 minutes from Mansfield. The closest places to eat are the local pub which is 1km away. No condiments are provided so please bring your own milk if you require it
