The space The house, dating back to 1895, belonged to the great-grandfather of the owner's family and was completely renovated in 2021. Both the owners and the architects respected the original building while reflecting the tradition of the area and adapting to the needs of modern life. This traditional yet modern home perfectly captures the atmosphere of complete relaxation that every visitor seeks to find on vacation. The owners of the house wanted to marry their passion for the Aegean islands by blending the white of the Greek islands, with the deep olive green that dominates the Cretan landscape. And the result of this lovingly restored home is truly impressive! Relax by the pool or enjoy your breakfast in the courtyard. Admire the view of the Cretan Mountains from your terrace as you gaze over the bell tower of the large church that’s central to village life. Sit back and unwind as you watch the sky endless change with the sunset over the White Mountains and enjoy the tranquility of this wonderful home. Guests can get easily acquainted with the local cuisine within the village at the traditional cafes and tavernas in the heart of the village just meters away. Marvel at the age-old plane-trees and natural streams that rush through this village on their way to the sea from the Mountains. It truly is a unique phenomenon! The house offers absolute tranquility as it is located in a very quiet neighbourhood of the village, chosen by many visitors from every corner of the globe. In summers the village square is full of happy voices and songs while in winter locals and foreign visitors, many of whom have permanent residences in the area, become a large group enjoying the local delicacies and the local liqueur (tsikoudia) by the fireplace and on the wood stove. The house also has a private garage / parking space right in the courtyard of the property but in a space that does not interfere with other activities of visitors. Wi-Fi is available throughout the property and for those on holiday work, modern work space is provided. The house is also suitable for those who have decided to work with telework (digital nomads). Guests will have access to the entire house and parking next to the property. We ask that you are considerate at all times when using the outdoor areas including the pool and terrace areas. Armenos is a traditional village at the foot of the Cretan Mountains. It is a charming village surrounded by trees, olive groves and nature. Within the village of Armeni, you will find a bakery, mini market, traditional tavernas and grill houses along with a historical site linked to the Cretan revolution. Armenos is 4km from the well-known beach town of Kalyves, it is a beautiful expanse of white sand where the sea meets the fresh water rivers running from the mountains. This area is popular with tourists and has many hotels along its’ beach front. In this seaside town you will find amenities such as pharmacies, banks, ATMs, gyms and local stores. Armenos has good road connections to all places around the island as it is close to the national road. Armenos is a 35-minute drive from Chania International Airport and is a 30-minute drive from the Old Venetian city of Chania. The historical city of Rethymno is a 45-minute drive and the city of Heraklion is around 1 hour and a half. Although it is easier to drive to this area there is also public transport that connects this region in the summer months as the bus changes at Kalyves for a smaller service through the mountain villages. Most of these villages are lived in year-round and also has a large ex-pat community. As Armeni is a rural village, you can find many cats roaming the neighbourhood.
