Description

The Indigo House is a charming 18th century townhouse quietly located on a small European-style square in the heart of Berwick's historic quarter. Located on the Lowry Trail and next to the historic Town Walls walk, Indigo House is the perfect base for those seeking a centrally located, spacious and stylish home for adventures within the town and along Northumberland’s stunning coast. Moments from great bars & restaurants, interesting shops, the beach and a playground - something for everyone! The space The property's entrance is via a covered alleyway, leading up to the front door. The hallway has a cloakroom and opens into the lounge/dining room. Your eyes will be drawn to the red brick feature fireplace and soft seating surrounding it, with a TV to enjoy. The spacious dining area is perfect for leisurely meals with friends and family. Across the hall is the new kitchen with a Rangemaster double oven, wine cooler, dishwasher, Nespresso machine and microwave. High quality pans, sharp knives and decent utensils are a cut above the usual holiday home provision. The kitchen gives access into the sunny enclosed courtyard. Al-fresco meals can be enjoyed at the dining area. A side gate onto the alley means you can bring prams and bikes straight into the courtyard. It's also a useful enclosed space for dogs (but please don't let them leave any 'gifts'!) A favourite with our guests is the cosy cinema den with 65” smart TV, x-box and a large sofa to relax on. A great space for rainy days, or enjoying the latest movie after a day exploring. Also in the basement is the utility room with sink, washing machine and tumble dryer. Two spacious and light-filled bedrooms are on the first floor, both served by a modern shower room. One has a a superkingsize zip and link bed (can be made into a twin bed on request) and the other is a kingsize. There is also a home office / snug on this level, with a desk for those who may need to check in with work, together with books, games and puzzles, a TV and comfortable sofa. The attic level has two further spacious bedrooms with feature fireplaces. The romantic master room has a comfortable Kingsize bed and a luxury freestanding roll top bath under the eaves - perfect for relaxing after a long day or getting ready for a night out. The twin bedroom is perfect for both kids and adults, with beds tucked under the eaves and windows opening onto the square. Both bedrooms share a brand new bathroom with powerful shower and WC. Every bedroom boasts pocket sprung mattresses, mattress toppers and 100% cotton bedding, with original fireplaces adding character and charm. Indigo House is an easy 15 minute downhill walk from the rail station, passing through the town centre with all its shops, bars, and restaurants. There are two all-day free car parks just around the corner from the property, and one visitor’s parking permit for on-street parking. With its central location, The Indigo House is perfect for enjoying the many delights of Berwick-upon-Tweed, with the Town Walls access point just a stone's throw from the property, so you can begin your exploring with a tour of these historic walls. Visit the 13th century remains of Berwick Castle and Ramparts before heading into the 18th century barracks. A trip to Castle Vale Park affords lovely views of the many-arched Royal Border Bridge. Venture over to Berwick's beach or enjoy an afternoon on one of the excellent golf courses just outside the centre of the town offering stunning coastal scenery. Boat trips along the River Tweed and out to the North Sea can be easily enjoyed, presenting a great way to soak up the views without moving a muscle, while those seeking more active adventures can head out on bike rides and walks along the coast, or venture further inland to explore Northumberland and the Scottish Borders' countryside. House rules: One well-behaved dog allowed (downstairs only), additional dog on request for a supplementary charge. No stag or hen parties. No house parties. No groups comprising only under 25s. Please be considerate of our neighbours and keep external noise to a minimum after 9pm. Guest access The whole house and courtyard garden.
