We love to share our garden, come pick your own! We are in the heart of The Catskill Mountains, 2 miles from the adorable vibrant town of Phoenicia, in the hamlet of Chichester near the Stony Clove Creek Welcome! We have lovingly designed and renovated the cottage inspired by our travels and our love of nature. It was an old barn which we have transformed into a private cottage. Enjoy stone patios, lovingly tended gardens (*PICK YOUR OWN in growing season), our own HAND MADE furniture and views into the trees. Balinese touches including wood carvings & batik art adorn this tranquil space. There is a beautiful wooden handmade queen size bed with a therapeutic mattress for sleeping & lounging. The cottage is stocked with gourmet coffees and teas, offers a microwave, sink and mini fridge and is equipped with dishes & other basics you may need. (Please note that the cottage does NOT have an oven or traditional stove top but there is an OUTDOOR GRILL). The windows looks out over the gardens filled with beautiful BIRDS & FLOWERS. Our gardens are yours to enjoy and there are Fresh Organic Vegetables during our growing season (late April to October) which we are happy to share (We can offer guided garden tours and picking instructions)! There is a private stone patio, with a gas BBQ and a FIRE PIT, where you can STAR GAZE into the big open sky and relax in nature. Hiking trails into the mountains and to the incredible Waterfalls are near by. The delightful bathroom has a beautiful hand tiled & stone shower looking out into the woods. The cottage is in a separate building from our main house, about 20 steps away, connected to our own woodworking & furniture making shop. There is plenty of privacy, and many of our guests come here to have solitude and respite from the busy world in nature. We have wonderful places to eat nearby, including the famous Phoenicia Diner, Sweet Sues (Home of the best buttermilk pancakes on the planet), a fantastic new pizza place on route 28, the fun and fabulous Maeves for coffees and great pastry, wonderful restaurants in Woodstock and Tannersville for all of you foodies. Lots of fun shopping, terrific hiking trails, mountain streams and lakes are all very close by. Fantastic YOGA classes are offered just down the road from us, with a community of the sweetest people practicing together. We are 15 minutes drive from HUNTER SKI SLOPE, and Belleayre Mountain, and the incredible KAATERSKILL waterfalls. We have a gorgeous cat named Ruby who lives in our private home and spends her days outside greeting guests and chasing butterflies. We are involved in projects to support artists & students from around the globe and there are beautiful hand made items for sale in the cottage which provide direct support for the crafts people. We are so happy that so many enthusiastic fun loving people are coming to our area, some moving here and starting great little business, and others just enjoying the natural beauty of the Catskill Mountains. The Cottage is decorated with both care and whimsy. Even on the morning of my departure I was discovering things I hadn't seen before. Dara, Dave and Ruby (feline Queen) were perfect hosts. The Cottage is surrounded by a beautiful garden that is sure to delight. I cannot recommend this property more highly. You won't be disappointed!!" The cottage is a separate building from the owners home, but is just next door. Access to the cottage is private, though you will share the stone walkways with the owners to your own door. In the back of the cottage is a private patio with your own Weber propane BBQ and a fire pit. We supply propane and kindling wood for your use. You are welcome to roam our private gardens and to be at home here. Happy to offer garden tours and picking instructions. The cottage is connected to a woodworking shop, and the doors between the shop and the cottage will be locked. If you would like a tour of our shops, just ask! The shop operates Monday through Friday during the day. There may be humming and whirling sounds of the woodworking machinery during those times. We will greet you and show you around when you arrive, we provide as much privacy as you need but will be available to you. We are a working couple, and will be out and about at various times. We both work from home. We are 2 miles outside of Phoenicia, in the beautiful Catskill Mountains of New York. We are 15 minutes drive from Hunter Ski Slope, and Belleayre Mountain, and 30 minutes from Windham. There are incredible hiking trails with choices of easy walks to a full days hike. There are gorgeous streams and waterfalls, some hidden gems we can share with you. A car is essential here. There are fantastic restaurants all around us, and a ton of great things to do. Woodstock is just 20 minutes from us. Great music, festivals, arts, and wonderful restaurants. Nature abounds! Public transport is pretty much non-existent here, and a car is necessary. The cottage is within The Catskill Mountain Forest Preserve. There are wonderful birds and animals and you can see rabbits, turkeys, deer, many birds and wildlife here. Living in nature also means that during your stay you might come across bees or crickets and other beautiful creatures that live around the house. There can be an occasional ant and it is possible that a field mouse can find their way in! We have natural deterrents and we do our best to keep this from happening in our home and in the cottage, if any field mouse comes in (Its very rare) please let us know and we can handle it. We promise that there are no hidden audio or video devices in the cottage!! We have wifi for your use. There is no cell service here. Texting is available with wifi and the owners may be reached through text or phone. We do not have television in the cottage.
