We love sharing our favorite places to visit here in the mountains with our friends. The cabin is located on top of McCarter Mountain. The area is located on an old "narrow" road that twist and winds around the mountain. Drive slowly, take your time and enjoy the views! The drive is not steep, but it is winding. The area is very peaceful with few homes and or rental cabins around. Enjoy the views! Many of the best attractions are spread out and may spend a lot of time in the car. The Great Smoky Mountains National park is gorgeous but timely to navigate for first time flat-landers. There is no Cell Service once you're in the park so be prepared with maps or screen shots. There are no cabins inside the park other than the ones you may pass on certain hikes that are 100 years old and not inhabitable. The area was designated a national park in 1934. Estimated distances: GATLINBURG: 8 mountain miles. PIGEON FORGE: 10 mountain miles. SEVIERVILLE: 14 mountain miles. Cade's Cove: 30 miles. 1 hour 30 minutes to get there. The loop at Cade's cove is 10.6 miles. Drive it, rent a bike at the start and bike it, or run it. It is closed to cars and open to runners and cyclists Wednesday and Saturday mornings until 10:00am Early May to Late September. OUR FAVORITE PLACE in the park! Clingman's Dome: 30 miles. This will take 3-4 hours round trip. There are plenty of amazing hikes at Newfound Gap on the way up such as Andrews Bald and "The Jump Off" and also on the way up to Clingman's Dome area. Those less adventurous should at the very least check out the observation tower at Clingman's dome. DOLLYWOOD: 6 Miles Ober Gatlinburg 8 Miles Tanger Outlet Malls: 10 Miles The Apple Mill Barn: 10.1 Miles Titanic Museum: 9.2 Miles The Island at Pigeon Forge: 7.3 Miles Gatlinburg park entrance: 8.2 Miles Neyland Stadium Knoxville: 35 Miles 1.25 Hours. Harrahs Casino Cherokee: 36.9 Miles Hikers! Please search Hiking In The Smoky's Getting around If you want to stay on the flat lands this cabin is not for you. Our cabin is at the top of a mountain off of a historic one lane logging road. Winding one lane PAVED road. Your car will not have any trouble getting up and down, we just like to make things perfectly clear. If you want the view you have to drive up the mountain! If you are lucky enough to get snow, pack in groceries and plan for a few days unless you have a 4X4 No refunds are given for weather so please check the forecast before you travel. We love to spoil our guest and will provide your first mornings breakfast or late night snack which consist of fresh fruit, pastries and orange juice. We also offer a full coffee bar with a Keurig coffee maker with a variety of coffee pods, drip coffee maker with coffee and filters and a tea kettle with a variety of specialty tea packs. Of course, it would not be complete without sugars and creamers. ENJOY!
