Cabin in Schroon Lake

A vacation home for everyone in all seasons. A beautiful authentic hand built log cabin. A peaceful wooded setting in the mountains, centrally located with easy access to all the amenities of the Adirondack Park. 17 minutes from Schroon Lake village, its beach, boat launch and marina. About 30 minutes from Gore Mountain ski resort and Garnet Hill nordic center. A multitude of hiking trails accessible all year round. Schroon Lake village also provides shopping, eateries and other services. The space Birchwood is a classic log cabin with a warm and cozy atmosphere. It was built by hand and comes with some of the corresponding quirks, such as light switches in unexpected places. The screened-in porch is a wonderful place to relax, furnished for comfort with a swing, adirondack chairs, ceiling fans for warm days, cute patio lights for evenings and a great dining table for every meal. The bedrooms are delightful, equipped with comfortable beds, dressers and hanging space (a closet or hooks on the wall). As is typical with log cabins there is very little sound insulation as the floors are not insulated (to allow the heat to rise). The kitchen is well equipped and a great space to prepare meals (please note, we do not have a microwave, but we do have all other usual appliances including a dishwasher). Birchwood is furnished with Adirondack furniture throughout, including really comfortable couches and a large dining table. Check out the Snug, a lovely room for reading or playing a game, filled with helpful information on things to do in the Adirondack park. Please note that our primary source of heating for the winter is the wood burning stove. It is highly efficient but does require some work, a lovely part of the cabin experience. We provide all the firewood you'll need and detailed instructions incase running a wood stove is new to you. We do have forced air heat as a backup. Other things to note Please note that there is no cell service in the area. Birchwood has excellent WiFi, and a Verizon home cell tower. There are detailed instructions in the manual should there be an outage (it is only a risk in the case of a significant storm). Birchwood is equipped with a whole house backup generator. It automatically starts up incase of a mains power outage. Birchwood continues to run normally even through a major snow storm! Note, there are security cameras mounted on the corner of the carport. They view the driveway and the North West side of the house. They do not record. They allow us to monitor winter snowfall and check for storm damage. We are excited to share that Birchwood has a new metal roof. Some of the photos from different seasons show the old shingle roof, they will get replaced in time!
