Converted from a 200-year-old stone farm building, the cottage features thick stone walls that create a wonderful "cellar effect"—offering a cool, refreshing escape from the midday summer sun without needing air conditioning. Cygne Cottage features a private, enclosed front patio equipped with a charcoal barbecue, outdoor dining table, and chairs. This patio looks directly out onto the shared pool area, making it an excellent choice for families with older children or young teens. For your peace of mind, the terrace gate is fitted with a child safety latch, and a second safety-latched gate controls access to the pool enclosure itself. Important Booking & Occupancy Rules To maintain our peaceful, family-focused estate atmosphere, please note the following policies: July & August Bookings: During peak summer, this property is strictly reserved for families traveling with at least one child under the age of 17. Adult-only groups will be respectfully declined. Occupancy Limits: The cottage comfortably sleeps up to 6 guests, but we accept a maximum of 4 adults. The remaining guests must be children under 17. (Our automated system may cap bookings at 5; if you are a family group of 6, please message us directly so we can open up the listing for you!). The Layout Ground Floor: A comfortable, open-plan living and dining area leads up to a medium-sized raised kitchen. The kitchen is fully equipped for child-friendly self-catering, featuring a dishwasher, washing machine, 4-ring gas hob, countertop electric oven/grill, microwave, fridge-freezer, and electric kettle. First Floor: An open-tread, steep wooden staircase leads to the upper floor, which includes: Bedroom 1: A cozy double bedroom. Bedroom 2: A comfortable twin bedroom. Bedroom 3: A second twin bedroom. (All bedrooms include chests of drawers and hanging space). Bathroom: A modern bathroom with a bathtub, shower attachment, washbasin, toilet, and excellent hot water pressure. To make packing easier, we provide an extensive array of nursery and toddler gear as a standard in the cottage: Cot & high chair Booster seat & changing mat Stair barriers (top and bottom) Potty, toddler step, and toilet training seat Plastic crockery, cutlery, and a hand blender A selection of toys and books Shared Amenities & Layout Note Cygne Cottage sits on a shared estate with four other family gites. While you are steps away from the refreshing swimming pool, accessing the communal play garden and sandpit requires leaving the pool side, passing the parking area. Because of this layout, young children must be accompanied by an adult to the play garden. 💡 Is this the right cottage for you? Guest access Guest Access & Shared Facilities Guests have exclusive use of the entire cottage, private enclosed garden, and off-road parking area during their stay. You will also have access to the shared family-friendly facilities at Les Vallaies, including: Communal play garden Games barn Swimming pool Optional Activities During Your Stay As a guest at Les Vallaies, you are warmly invited to take part in a variety of optional activities, usually hosted at our nearby sister property, La Grange du Moulin, just 2km away. Participation is completely optional — join as much or as little as you like. Activities available throughout the season may include: Pottery painting and fabric painting workshops (paid activity) Wine discovery experiences, including sparkling wine tastings and guided vineyard walks with our local wine expert (paid activities in English) These activities are designed to add a little extra fun and create memorable family holiday experiences during your stay in the French countryside. Other things to note Important House Rules & Property Expectations To ensure a wonderful and peaceful holiday for everyone, please review our house rules and the unique nature of our property before booking. Our estate is explicitly designed for families with children, and their comfort and safety come first. Quiet Hours & On-Site Atmosphere Strictly Non-Smoking: For the health and comfort of the children on site, there is no smoking or vaping permitted anywhere on the property, including your private outdoor terrace. Guests who wish to smoke must leave the property entirely. This is a legal requirement. Quiet Time (After 9:00 PM): To allow young children to sleep, we enforce a strict quiet time after 9:00 PM. No music, radios, or loud TV should be heard outside your cottage. Please use headphones when listening to devices outdoors at any time of day. Authentic Rustic Charm (What to Expect) Our gites are converted from 200-year-old stone farm buildings. They offer an authentic, rustic French experience rather than a whitewashed, modern apartment style: You will find charming exposed stone walls (which can occasionally shed a little dust) and original wooden floorboards (which may creak). These are not 'luxury' apartments, they are simply furnished and rustic in nature. Nature is part of the countryside experience, so an occasional spider or bug may find its way into a corner! Everything is thoroughly cleaned and inspected by us personally before your arrival to ensure it is in perfect working order. If anything isn't right, please let us know immediately so we can fix it for you! Location & Logistics Rural Setting: We are located in the heart of the countryside. You will need a car, as it is a 4km drive to the nearest boulangerie, 12km to the supermarket, and about an hour's drive to the beach. This peaceful, rural seclusion is why families return year after year, but please ensure this suits your group's needs before booking. No EV Charging: Due to our limited electricity supply and insurance restrictions, charging electric vehicles from the cottage supply is strictly prohibited as it poses a fire risk. There are numerous dedicated EV charging stations in the local town. No Pets: To keep our property friendly for all children, we have a strict no-pets policy. Departure Cleaning Options To give you flexibility at the end of your stay, we offer two options: Self-Clean: You leave the cottage as you found it. Optional Cleaning Service: Leave the cleaning to us for an optional fee of €85, payable on-site. 💡 Not the perfect fit?
