Come live it up in rustic charm inside our hand-crafted Pagoda. This space is ideal for those looking for a glamping experience. Time to unplug and get some fresh mountain air all the while being close to the best Asheville has to offer. The Pagoda is tucked up in the woods our quaint mountain neighborhood, 25 min from AVL. And only 15 min from the best national forest in NC, Big Ivy. Waterfalls, swimming holes, hiking, and back road access to the Blue Ridge Parkway abound. The space This lodging is on our beautiful land that also hosts our sustainable living school, Wild Abundance. The location of the pagoda is short walk uphill from the parking area tucked up in the forests edge. This space is simple and lovely. It is a 2-story, 10 x 10, open air, pagoda-style building. It has a very unique architectural design, with split-bamboo woven half walls, and a huge pyramid sky-light. The first story has a cherry desk, counter space, room to do yoga, and a love-seat. There is a water urn dispenser and a single stove-top burner, kettle, and french press but NO kitchen in this space. The pagoda is entirely off-grid, as such it is NOT fitted with electricity or running water. Guests come to the pagoda looking for a camping experience. If you would like to cook you will need to bring a camping cook set-up, including a cooler. The Pagoda is outfitted with a full size futon mattress, standard bed linens, pillows, and a comforter. This building shelters from the rain but not the temperature. If you are planning your stay during spring or fall it is highly recommended you bring additional bedding and/or a sleeping bag and liner as our Appalachian nights can get quite chilly. The structure is open air and as such is not sheltered from the bugs though we find them to be quite mild for most of the year and DO provide a mosquito net for your added comfort. Our facilities are rustic though provide for a much more sustainable lifestyle. There is a permitted outhouse a very short walk from the lodging and several others scattered throughout the campus. An outdoor shower (featuring a Camplux hot water heater) is available for use across the way. Towels provided. The outdoor shower and outhouses are shared amongst our few full-time residents and other Airbnb guests. Our neighborhood is a sustainable living paradise with lots of picturesque naturally built homes, fruit trees, wildlife, permaculture, rich biological diversity, and community. Classes featured here at Wild Abundance include; carpentry, natural building, rewilding, permaculture, gardening, earthskills, and more! We provide guests with a guide for the best hikes, eats, and fun Asheville has to offer. We know the Asheville restaurant scene fairly well and can suggest good places to eat, whether you are omnivore, vegetarian/vegan, gluten-free, local & organic, or just looking for delicious economy eats. Kaylee's particularly well versed in the Asheville dance scene and is happy to make recommendations. Important to note. The Pagoda is hidden in the trees when the leaves are on the trees, but is only 250 feet from our neighbors house. While scenic and rural we would not describe this listing as secluded. Guest access You will have access to the Pagoda, outdoor shower, and our permitted outhouses. As well as the firepit adjacent to the Pagoda. You will NOT have access to the pavilion, outdoor kitchen, other firepits, and playground/trampoline, which are reserved for classes or full-time residents. Other things to note We have a very sweet and friendly outdoor cat that roams the property (Starlight). Occasionally you will also encounter a dog or two from a neighbor's house. All our animals are friendly and approachable! Even though the leaves are a good visual block, noise travels a lot through our quaint mountain neighborhood. We have a young child and there are other many other families in our community. We request that you are mindful of your noise level past sundown.
