Description

Our home is located in a quiet, beautiful valley, surrounded by 175 acres of gardens, fields, hills, trails, streams, ponds and woods. Our bedrooms are bright and airy, with private bathroom upstairs on your own floor. Breakfast is provided each day -- all natural foods, special diets accommodated. 3-5 mins from Slate Valley Trails and Lake St. Catherine/State Park. 5 mins to Wells center. 10 mins to Poultney. 30 mins to Manchester or Rutland, VT. The space We have 2 bedroom choices located upstairs, on a separate floor from the rest of our home. Each room is bright and airy, simple and clean. One room has a queen bed; the other 2 twin beds. There is also a separate sitting area with a desk, and a private bath with a shower on this floor. You can reserve one bedroom, or two for a group. (We do not offer the two bedrooms to unrelated guests, so you never have to share the floor/bath with someone you don't know.) We also have a wood-fired sauna and a hot tub. Guests are welcome to store their food in our fridge and to reheat prepared foods in our gas oven, as we don't have a microwave. You are welcome to make a salad, or sandwiches, but we are not prepared for guests to cook meals. Experience has taught us that it's not a good fit for us. Guest access We are happy to share our home and land with you, our guests. You will have access to your own sitting area and work desk upstairs, along with your private bathroom. You can also enjoy our downstairs sitting area and living room, each with a cozy wood stove. Plus there is a 4-season porch. Our back yard has a wonderful pond, complete with frogs, water lilies, herons and dragon flies. There are trails to walk through our woods, and a pretty little waterfall. Our wood-fired sauna is available to guests, with some prior notice. Hot tub is available spring-summer-fall. There are many trails to walk, fields, streams, swimming holes, and woods to explore on our 175 acres, with plenty of wildlife and birds. Most of our property is protected/conserved by the Vermont Land Trust. We are also just down the road from 2 Slate Valley Trails, Lake St. Catherine and the state park, as well as the Lewis Deane Nature Preserve, an 85-acre forest conserved by the Vermont Land Trust. Its hiking trails and mountain views are open year round to the public. We are also right down the street from the birth place of Oliver Crowdery, one of the founders of the Mormon church. See the "Where You'll Be" section for more area sights and resources. We have wireless high-speed Internet access. We have a wide screen TV with CD movie selection. WE are happy to share our sauna with our guests. We will make 1 for you during your visit id you'd like one. request. And additional saunas are at the rate of $25.00 per sauna. During your stay We are available to offer help and area guidance throughout your stay. Have lived here since 1988. Other things to note GPS can be unreliable in the country. Instead, find the Wells Country store in the town of Wells and follow our easy directions from there.
