Quiet West Cornwall cottage with river view/access

A great get-a-way break for locals or distant travelers, quiet for writers and artists. Furnished 4 room ac'd cottage on 2 wooded acres on dead end road, 200 foot frontage on trophy trout stocked Housatonic River (catch & release) viewed from the cabin. Watercraft available at rental center for a 10 mile river run with pickup/dropoff. Fishing guide also. Tanglewood concerts an hour away. Appalachian Trail access is ~3 miles away. Hotchkiss has a 9 hole golf course. Both charcoal & gas gril The space Have access to 200+ feet of a prime trophy trout stocked river. See an occasional deer at dawn or heron or bald eagle by the river. Watch people in canoes, kayaks and/or rafts float down the river...or join them for the ~10 mile trip with canoes/rafts/kayak rentals , including drop off and pick up available at Clarks, about 3 miles south on Route 7. Or just cool off with a dip in the river. Bring sneakers for the rocky bottom. There are two twins beds in the bedroom with an ac unit. There is a twin day bed on the side enclosed sun porch with an ac. Access passage from porch to kitchen needs to go through bedroom. A queen bed and couch are set up in the living room with an ac. All rooms have fantastic river views. The property manager/ housekeeper only lives twenty minutes away and is available if there is any need. A tv/ dvd player is there for your use with some movies or bring any favorites to play. There is no televised tv available. A wood burning stove extends out of the fireplace area in the living room. Outside, next to the cabin are a table, chairs and a brick fireplace for grilling. A fire pit with table and chairs is at the river's edge for a small campfire, bbq( a small portable grill is available/ you supply the charcoal) & a shared gas grill also. Please observe any local restrictions(I.e. small fire, and restricted if too dry). Need to bring your own firewood, but a pile of cut tree limb twigs is usually available. If that much sleeping area is unnecessary but you want the full kitchen, washer/dryer and bed in the living room, I can lock the bedroom and enclosed porch area. So if you only need one bed (and a sleep-able couch in same room), and full kitchen, rental and cleaning fees would be less. Of course full cottage usage gets first priority. If not rented, you can prebook this half cottage one month in advance. Guest access The total cottage is available for your use except the attic( used for storage). Last minute rentals, less than 3 days, even same day sometimes, is typically available. Just ask me to see if place has been cleaned and ready Towels, bedding, toiletries are supplied as well as snacks, coffee, tea. Other things to note A filtration and uv system insures high quality drinking well water. A "set" of golf clubs, bag and balls are available to use if you care to play golf at one of the nearby courses. Hotchkiss a private high school, 20 minutes away on Route112, has an excellent 9 hole golf course that you can walk or ride. Public access is usually available. Call. Various games ( bocce, croquet, putting, volley ball, indoor board and cards) are also available, besides the DVD and CD players. Hiking part of the Appellation Trail is great. If you just want a short walk, hit Falls Village, about 5 miles north off Route 7, for a look at the dam with its rock ledges to walk on... if the water isn't spilling over the dam. Most of the river is rerouted into the electrical power generating station. Cultural activities nearby include The Sharon Playhouse, Hotchkiss private high school presentations, Norman Rockwell museum, Music Mountain (chamber music), Tanglewood (orchestral and stars-i.e.- I had, but got cancelled, tickets to Ringo Starr and Judy Collins in June). Dogs ( 2 max) are welcome but there will be an extra $20 one dog, ($30 for second dog exit cleaning fee to leave for the housekeeper) AIRBNB collects for one dog only. Most dog owners are really nice and leave no trace of a dog being there. One past guest had a scratching dog... in three locations, pulled up the carpet threads so much, cutting them off left it’s mark. I just installed, December 2019, new padding and carpet costing over $300 so will charge something from the security fee if that happens again. Children are ok as long as they are supervised, always a concern by any water.
