Guest access The outdoor space directly around the caboose is yours to enjoy, a perfect spot to relax, take in the mountain air, and sip your morning coffee. A short walk brings you to the pedestrian gate, which is the best route for coming and going during your stay. We kindly ask that guests do not approach the main house without an appointment. When my dogs are here, they tend to get excited and bark, and we want to keep things peaceful for everyone on the property. If we are in town we love to show off our rescue dogs. If you’d like to visit the horse and burro, please use the pedestrian gate and walk down toward the horse meadow, it’s a lovely stroll and the best way to see them without disturbing the household. Other things to note The caboose sits on 5 private acres with several other Airbnb units on the property, yet the caboose area itself feels tucked away and peaceful. When we are in town, our well-behaved rescue dogs stay at the main house, guests often enjoy seeing them from a distance, but they won’t disturb your stay. Many couples tell us there’s a romantic quality to spending the night in the caboose, perfect for an intimate getaway, an anniversary, or a cozy retreat after a nearby wedding or event. The setting also offers beautiful natural backdrops for memorable photos. Nature lovers will appreciate our feathered neighbors. Over the years, wild peacocks and a variety of local birds have discovered that our property is a safe haven—to the point where some seem almost tame. You may spot peacocks, hummingbirds, parrots, snowy egrets, great blue herons, woodpeckers, blue jays, ravens, crows, and at dusk, the occasional hawk or falcon circling overhead. At night, listen for the soft calls of owls from the treetops. We are conveniently close to several popular event venues and attractions, making the caboose an ideal home base for weddings, concerts, and special celebrations.
