The Farmhouse at Toulana Landmark 1810 farmhouse lovingly restored and renovated, snuggled in New York’s Columbia County with easy access to the Berkshires and Hudson River Valley. Toulana provides a setting for relaxation, reflection and re-charging. Perfect for a quick business trip, weekend getaway or extended multi-site vacation, with Toulana serving as the hub. One hundred and ten acres, mostly wooded. Surrounded by two barns, a pond, gazebo, and vestiges of a working milk farm, Toulana preserves history. Take a nap in the hammock. Watch the sunrise and sunset sitting in the gazebo by the pond. Use locally grown fresh produce in the new chef’s kitchen. When in season, pick local apples, blueberries, or tomatoes. Husk some corn. Even cut down a Christmas tree. The farmhouse can sleep 6-8 people in three private bedrooms and 2 more in the living room with a convertible sleeper sofa. Children welcomed. Pet friendly. Over-sized windows provide views from the kitchen, dining room, living room and master bedroom. Pegged wood floors are at least 100 years old. An unusual non-working slate fireplace anchors the entertainment space. Two brand newly renovated bathrooms with power showers. Large washer and dryer. Office space, with desk. Downstairs offers a full cook's kitchen, dining area and living room. Within 30-40 minutes, a scenic drive from Toulana will bring you to picnic at Tanglewood, the summer home of the Boston Symphony. Or, be inspired at Jacob’s Pillow, for its acclaimed classic and modern dance. Or, head south to the city of Hudson with its art, auctions and antiques. Or make a stop at the local crafts shops, malls, and movies. Discover the multiple faces of Albany: state government, local jazz, restaurants of a variety of cuisines. Have more time? In an hour you can reach (depending on season) horseback riding, skiing, snow-boarding, hiking, fishing and rafting. More ambitious? Make it a 90-minute drive north and you can be at the Saratoga Race Track or watch champion high school-basketball in Glens Falls. Or, head southeast to reach FDR’s home and the Culinary Institute. Recommended local restaurants include: o East Chatham Food Company (comfort food - dinner) o Jackson's Old Chatham House (comfort food - lunch & dinner) o Our Daily Bread (breakfast, lunch - classic cafe, middle eastern influences, fresh artisan breads and pastries) o Blue Plate (dinner - American with Mediterranean touches) There is an Amtrak station in Hudson and in Albany, both 30 minutes away.
