Description
Room "A" has a queen bed and view East over Quartermaster Harbor. The space On the waterfront of outer quartermaster harbor, and built before there were roads on the island Marjesira was once an inn, general store, post office, and one of the Mosquito Fleet steamship stops. Now its main access is a short shell strewn trail past the garden, and a flight of 63 stairs (please take note of this if stairs are a challenge for you). To come down the trail, stairs, and walk through the doors of Marjesira, is to step back in time. Over a hundred years old, it maintains a charm and rustic elegance in a craftsman style. You will see the remnants of a time before; fixtures from the gas settling lamps still adorn the walls. Its east facing covered porch is a favorite place to watch the birds, otters, or the early morning sunlight dancing on the water. The top of Mt Rainer peeks up over Maury island on the other side of the harbor. The two bathrooms are shared by the quests (one has a large claw-foot tub, the other a shower.) The old floors are creaky and the walls are thin: so light sleepers may find it challenging dependent on the other guests staying at the time. Located about a mile south of Burton, 4 miles North of the Talequah Ferry, 5 miles south of Vashon town, 10 miles South of the North end ferry to Fauntleroy and Southworth, Marjesira is on the 118 bus line. You could come stay down on Magnolia beach the whole time, or use Marjesira as a base to explore the Island, Tacoma, Seattle, or the extended beauty of the Pacific Northwest mountains and waterways. It is a great place for pre / post hiking ,biking, or kayaking adventures. The hostess lives on the lower level of the premises. The most common descriptors of those who have spent time at Marjesira : magical, nurturing, healing, (URL HIDDEN) is a great place to gather or to get away. Come experience it for yourself. Guest access Marjesira has WIFI . A well equipped kitchen and extra refrigerators are available for guests to use. Other common spaces: the Great Room has a large table that extends for many, and a sitting area with rockers for all.... the parlor has an extensive library, a piano, many musical instruments, and a wood stove to cozy up around when the temperature is cooler. There is a wrap around porch with lots of seating, a hammock, and views. Decks off of the kitchen and the upstairs, and a dock out front, offer more lounging space. Miles of beach are just out the front door when tides allow. During your stay My work schedule is irregular. There may be times when our paths do not cross. When I do get the pleasure of meeting you, I will likely follow your lead as to how much you want to interact. I will gladly give suggestions for your stay on the island. I have thoroughly enjoyed meeting the many people that have graced Marjesira through Airbnb.
