An updated historic home in the center of town within easy walking distance of shops, restaurants, health club and marinas. Choose between 2 bedrooms (1 full/2 twin), with full baths. One of the private baths is on the first floor. Both bedrooms are on the second floor. Outdoor space includes deck with panoramic views or the river and flower gardens in the back yard with outdoor furniture. Each of the bedrooms sleeps 2 people and are located in a separate, private part of the house. "Heaven's a little closer in a house on the river". Our beautiful river view, our flower gardens and porch are the perfect setting for sitting and relaxing and enjoying a glass of wine while watching the boats sailing along as well as the town dog walkers, bicyclists, joggers and fisherman at the dock. Our home is centrally located and just a 2 minute walk to the harbor and restaurants. Our home has internet. There are 2 private full bathrooms, one with tub shower on the first level and one with stall shower upstairs.There are 2 bedrooms to choose from one with 2 twin beds the other with a standard double. Each room needs to be booked and paid for separately. These rooms are both upstairs in a separate wing of the house. Our guests are treated as family and are free to enjoy our river views from our back porch and the company of the hosts if desired. Guests have the use of the first floor ‘bonus’ room which serves as an office/library/game/sitting/TV room.Coffee bar and mini fridge It is a 6 mile drive to the indoor pickle ball courts and a 5 minute walk to the outdoor tennis/pickle ball courts. A meditative labyrinth has been designed on the abutting church property. With the onslaught of Covid-19 we have felt the need to restrict whole house use by guests. So no coffee will be served and no refrigerator space or microwave use permitted in the main house. We will encourage and willingly share outdoor porch space. These are challenging times and we are doing our best to keep all involved safe and healthy. Both my husband and I are now fully vaccinated and would appreciate guests letting us know if they are not. We are more than happy to acquaint you with the "doings" of the town, recommend local and not so local restaurants, beaches, state and national parks. Our home is situated in the "heart" of old Oriental where the Victorian homes along the river were built and occupied by Roper Lumber Company execs. Many of the homes have been renovated or restored to their original grandeur. Our particular site is directly across the street from Lou Mac Park where many town events are held. From the privacy of our porch behind the privet hedge you can be privy to weddings, Croaker Fest, the dog parade, drum circle, Sunday church services (weather permitting )spring -fall, concerts, Ol' Front Porch Music Festival, picnicking, folks sitting in the Adirondack chairs relaxing, reading, chatting and even napping. Sitting on our porch and watching the world go by is best described as living like a local. It is a 15 minute drive to connect with the ferry system which will give you access to Beaufort, Morehead City, the Atlantic beaches , Harkers Island and Cape Lookout. It is a 35 minute drive from the airport. There is ample parking and a shed for bicycle storage. Once parked there is no need of a car as everything in town is an easy walk. There is one cat in residence. . Parking is in the driveway or in the space beside it or anywhere on the street.
