Welcome to the "Hobbit Hole" a one of a Kind Portland Experience! This enchanting oasis is crafted with love and guests in mind! This is a walking, biking, and transit paradise in one of the "Hottest" neighborhoods in PDX The HAWTHORNE DISTRICT! Easy curbside parking. One block from organic grocery store, ICONIC restaurants, and shopping, galore! Soo much entertainment! Top 1% of homes! An open and affirming household who welcomes all. ( Quote from the Book) This handcrafted, sustainable Hobbit Hole is a unique and inspiring place to call home in Portland! Inspired by the Lord of the Rings, our earthen home provides insulation, sound barrier and loads of charm. We reclaimed the clay soil from our backyard for the Hobbit Hole and turned that into the 100-foot-long tree root sculpture on the ceiling. Once through the door of your private entrance, you'll find your enchanting home away from home. The bedroom area has an incredibly comfortable queen bed with a memory foam mattress. Back through the entryway and around the corner you'll find the common area with cozy seating and a dining table, the handcrafted kitchenette with all the basics including a microwave, mini fridge/freezer, coffee maker and electric kettle and toaster over (sorry NO stove top). This space is adorned with a reclaimed Swarovski crystal chandelier that makes for a magical ambiance, a leather sofa that easily folds out to a second queen bed with a memory foam mattress, and the European-style tiled bathroom with shower, sink, toilet. We welcome even the tiniest adventurers and can provide a Pack n Play (portable crib) with sheets and have other child amenities available - just ask! Other things to note We have one non-shedding and friendly dog that lived in the main house. Moo is a young spotted poodle who loves to play, but can be a little shy with new people. We always monitor her when she is in the backyard. The Hobbit Hole is located in the basement of our home so if you are extremely sensitive to the sound of occasional footsteps above, we might not be the best fit. For very tall guests: Our tallest guest to date has been 6’5”. He told us it worked well for him. He said that he ducked under the archway and one other spot that is easy to avoid.
