Description
New in 2026: no pets. Rewind to the 1980s cottage lifestyle at our retro camp! The space Welcome to Camp Bongopix! We have 5 retro cabins, this one is "Hyrule Cabin." Hyrule is directly on the Madawaska River in the tiny town of Whitney. You can canoe into Algonquin Park from the dock! Many hiking trails nearby. RETRO TREASURES! Hyrule cabin has: VCR/VHS, CASSETTES and mini boombox, and Super Nintendo. BBQ included, bring your own CHARCOAL, we supply fire starter. Private toilet/shower, full kitchen (pots, pans, utensils, stove, fridge, toaster, coffee-maker, kettle) and a queen bed. Towels and bedding are provided. This is a retro camp - NO WIFI. Get disconnected from the busy world and reconnect with nature and other like-minded folks! Warning: Cannabis, tobacco, and alcohol is permitted anywhere on the property. Due to our liquor license, all overnight guests must be 19+. Unfortunately we cannot make any exceptions to this rule, so please don't inquire if you're travelling with anyone under the age of 19 years old (including infants), which is the legal drinking age in Ontario. NOISE POLICY: We kindly ask you to "turn down the volume" by 12am. Have lots of fun (hey, there's no kids!), but please avoid obnoxious late night noise. Let's be respectful of the neighbours across the river (sound easily carries across the river at night).Despite the fact that we're in the wilderness, don't forget that we are still located in a village with neighbours. Guest access Our property is shared with other guests. Here are our COVID-19 guidelines: - Saturday Music #Jamnite continues, but with a limited capacity, depending on what the government currently allows. We do not want to contribute to the spread of COVID-19, we take the provincial gathering restrictions seriously because we want to be responsible neighbours in the village of Whitney. If you want to attend our music night, please inquire if we have any seats available when you first make your reservation. Seats are available at a first-come-first-served basis. We cannot guarantee that we will be able to give you a seat at the jam (limited capacity due to COVID-19), so many guests will have to watch from the road... we will still have fun! - Each cabin has its own private canoe. Your lifejackets and paddles will be in the closet of the cabin. Please return the lifejackets and paddles to the cabin closet when finished. Your canoe will be next to your cabin. Don't forget to take your "orange safety bucket" when you go canoeing. If the police are checking boats for safety on the lake (it happens randomly once a year) then you must have the orange safety bucket to avoid a fine. - Dogs must be leashed at all times while outdoors to prevent any accidental contact with other guests (animals can transmit COVID-19). Dog owners: please be mindful of guests who might be uncomfortable being approached by dogs. Most people - Our beach area will be open for a maximum of 2 parties at any given time, and there will be no shared equipment (picnic tables, chairs). If you want to float, please bring your own floatation device (sorry, we can't have a shared floatation raft)... or you can float with your lifejacket! - All check-ins will be contactless! For our veterans, you already know where to go and how to make yourself at home. If it's your first time, we'll send you a detailed list of instructions on how to get to your unit and let yourselves in. We know this is a lot to digest. We'll make sure to communicate this with you upon arrival, too. We're so happy to be able to have people back, we have missed all of you! Peace & love from the Algonquin wilderness! Other things to note NO WIFI! Put your phone away and rewind to 1980. This is a retro camp - there are 5 cabins on our property. You will probably meet other guests since our cabins are close together. If you want to be alone/private I do not recommend booking our cabins. The Algonquin wilderness is next door but our cabins are still located in the tiny "bush town" of Whitney. We are 420 friendly. LGBTQ friendly! Sorry, no kids, and NO WIFI.
