Gorgeous spot on water in Maine
This is a cottage and two outbuildings without running water or electricity on a gorgeous secluded cove in Downeast Maine. There is a gas stove, refrigerator and lights and a composting toilet, as well as an outhouse. It is very comfortable. Water is procured from a well on the property with a pump at the kitchen sink. Internet service is by cell phone only. The space You will feel removed from the bustle of the world at this peaceful spot. Our family has owned it for thirty years and the kids grew up in the summers without amenities....a great experience. Beds: 2 queen, 3 double, 1 single, 2 bunks. There is a large washroom with a sink and a composting toilet as well as a very nice outhouse. Sun showers are available. Fill them in the morning, put in the sun and have your hot shower in our private outdoor shower stall with a gorgeous view. You can launch a kayak or canoe from the tidal beach in front to have a picnic on a white sandy beach across the cove. At high tide, you can swim in front of the cottage. There is no ambient light at night, making the stars seem close enough to touch. Sit on the deck or lie in the hammock and enjoy the view of the cove, lobster boats, and islands beyond. Guest access Guests have access to the main cottage and the "boathouse" which has a queen size bed and is practically on the water. There is also a large storage shed on the property and two canoes guests can use. The Woodward Preserve, a scenic hike through moss filled woods and rocky coastline, is two miles down the road from cottage on left. Other things to note The cottage has lots of information with suggestions for scenic hikes and walks, good restaurants and more. There is cell phone service.
