A space inspired by travel, naturalist nerdiness, and wilderness adventure. The town cottage is intended to comfort, inspire, and celebrate the wonder of Canaan Valley. Everyone is welcome to make a nest here, only a few minutes' walk from good eats, endless miles of wild trails, galleries, breweries. You can also find this listing on furnished_finder for a significant discount. This space is great for folks that want a place to connect and venture outward, or just stay in and get cozy! Comfy, simple, unique, with lots of natural light. Kitchen is outfitted for your cooking adventures. The living room is dangerously comfortable. The smart tv is armed with Roku with Spotify premium and Amazon Prime Video provided, so feel free to plug in your computer, log-in to your netflix or browse the other streaming channels. Maps are available at Blackwater Bikes. A backbacking guitar is also available for use. This is also a space I enjoy seasonally so I plan on continuously improving it. The house was built in 1901 as worker housing so it has some quirks that I'm working on. Your comments on how to make this a home away from home for you are important to me. If you come back again, I'll be sure to let you know what's been updated. A note on number of guests and beds: The base price is set for four people, but possible for up to 6. Make sure your reservation accurately reflects the size of your group. Honor system. The ventless gas stove downstairs does take some adjustments on your part during cold weather to circulate the heat to your liking. Not all cell providers have great reception in Davis. AT&T works fine, but I haven't had much luck with verizon. You can use wifi to make calls. If the power goes out, a breaker trips, or the furnace pilot goes out, I have instructions in the house manual. Overall, the house does have some rough edges due to its age and that I haven't had it long. I've priced it accordingly and in alignment with similar properties. Thank you! You're welcome to the whole house with a few small caveats: Only use the back door in case of emergency. The back stoop is not up to code yet. I have some personal belongings stored under the bed and in the closets. Eventually I'll have secure storage so you won't have to think about it. Please try to reach me if you need anything. I can connect you with someone local if it's emergency or I can't come myself. If you haven't been to Davis before, you're going to love it. You can stay endlessly entertained and not need to drive anywhere, but you might want to get to the Dolly Sods, x-county or downhill skiing, or Thomas, and all are so close. Seneca Rocks and Spruce Knob are a bit further, but well worth a visit. The locals here are wonderful. Get to know them if you get the chance. I love being able to step out the door and go trail running for as long as I can handle on the trails out Camp 70, past the Shop N Save or cross the bridge on foot or bike and take a right along the trail that leads to Blackwater State Park. There are too many things I could recommend, but I'm sure you'll find something right for you. See my guidebook on here for more recommendations. Parking is free on the streets of Davis, just be mindful of parking in residential areas. Two cars only are allowed on site. One in front, and one to the side of the house. The house was built in 1910 so it has some quirks. The gas stove in the living room is the sole heating unit without a real thermostat. Choose your own adventure, but please always keep it at least on low at all times in winter months and leave it at a "4" when you leave, and be wary of over heating the bedrooms upstairs. I recommend keeping the bedroom doors shut and the fan going to make sure the heat doesn't just go upstairs. It can get toasty. There is a drying rack in the mudroom or by the laundry that you can bring in next to the stove to get things dry. Do not let anything touch the stove, and please don't let water pool up on floor.
