As you can see from the photos, your one bedroom Catrina suite has hints of Diego, Frida and Dia de los Muertos folk art! Perfect for a couple's weekend getaway, or Girlfriend's retreat, or some solo R&R. Named for the immortal icon of Dia de los Muertos, La Catrina, your charming suite is filled with themed folk art from our travels as well as from local artist, Anita Moore-Wells. Your private suite has its own entrance, with French doors opening onto a large Spanish-style guest courtyard - perfect for morning coffee, sunsets or stargazing. You'll find a comfy king bed with fresh quality linens, ensuite bathroom furnished with towels, soaps, shampoo/conditioner, hairdryer, mini-fridge, and beverage station stocked with delicious eco-friendly coffee, tea, and plenty of filtered drinking water. The Central Coast has very moderate weather year-round, with the exception of a few days per year, but just in case they occur during your visit you can enjoy a nice breeze from the ceiling fan. Your suite has a Smart TV and WiFi (but no cable) so you can access your own accounts for Netflix, Amazon, Hulu, etc. . (WiFi Password details are in your Welcome Book). On the grounds, we have unique cactus and succulent gardens, designed with an 'infinity walk' and an outdoor live bamboo oxygen room - perfect for yoga or meditation. At the top of the gardens there's a gazebo - an ideal spot to catch the sunset or enjoy a happy hour picnic. Feel free to grab our beach towels we've left for you to borrow, and head to the beach or some of our country road wineries for a day of leisurely exploration. When you’re ready to call it a day, wind down with one of the interesting books in your suite and learn about Mexican folk art, alebrije woodcarvings, Day of the Dead festival, or archaeological sites of Aztecs and Mayans. SUSTAINABLE TRAVEL: We think it’s important to do what we can to minimize the environmental impacts of tourism. We've tried to be as eco-friendly as possible, both with design and lifestyle, so you will notice shaded terraces and decks that keep the hacienda cool, solar energy, etc. Here’s some other ways we are striving to lighten our footprint and those of our guests: **Increased our solar panels and now produce about 95% of the energy needed to run our property. **Water conservation with drought resistant, low-water landscape **You will find delicious dark roast coffee waiting for you that comes in plant-based, PLASTIC-FREE coffee pods that are compostable. **Filtered drinking water is available in each unit, so NO Plastic water bottles need to be used during your stay. **Refillable amenity dispensers to reduce use of plastic bottles **Wool Dryer Balls: reduce drying time and save energy, plus are eco-friendly, reusable, and hypoallergenic. *Last thing - California is in a drought, so please minimize water use. TESLA - ELECTRIC VEHICLES: We have an EV charging station, and happy Tesla guests say they get 5 miles per charging hour (Additional fee of $15 p/day to use charging station. *Please let us know you need the EV station at the time of booking. Guest access Located in the guest wing of the hacienda’s main house, your private Catrina suite has its own entrance and faces the lovely guest courtyard for your enjoyment*. This suite does not include access to the indoor facilities of the main house in which we reside. There is a designated parking place for your car, just look for the Catrina sign. *Due to potential for fire hazard with surrounding dry brush, the wood burning fireplace in the guest courtyard is not available for use. Other things to note So much to do! Hiking, biking, surfing, kayaking, fishing, yoga, golfing, Cal Poly Performing Arts (PAC), local music events, food events, wine tasting... Location is minutes to beaches, hiking trails, factory outlet shopping, Village of Arroyo Grande, downtown San Luis Obispo, Cal Poly, Pismo Beach, and Avila Beach. Within less than 10 miles from 22+ wineries, plus hundreds more in Avila, Paso Robles, Santa Ynez, Santa Barbara. For Cyclists: lots of trails and back roads to ride, or you could even ride to the wineries. And the casita has a large covered area for stowing your bikes! 1.25 hours to San Simeon to see Elephant seals and Hearst Castle. 1 hour to the Danish village of Solvang; in the summer you can enjoy the outdoor theatre. Did you forget something? No problem! CVS is 2 minutes up the road, and Trader Joe's is 5.
